Guest guest
Beverly If there is any question with liver involvement, my guess would be that it is liquid and there is pooling. My knowledge in that area is a little limited but I would suspect that it would be similar to the accumulation that many liver patients suffer from but if the scans didn't pick up anything noticeable then I would suspect endocrine problems. The added problems that MSA patients have due to complications from the endocrine system not working as it should can create some major trouble. Has she had a full endocrine work-up with detailed thyroid scans and tests? If not, please suggest they do them. Because the endocrine system can become so sluggish, it becomes a problem. This could be ovarian which may be connected to endocrine function or just normal malfunction of the system. Make sure all hormonal and endocrine systems are checked. Remember that the pancreas is also part of the endocrine system so it may also be combined in all of this. It sounds like the internist and the neurologist need a little help here. I would suggest someone from a medical teaching area who knows something about MSA take a look at her tests. They are missing something and it is right in front of them. My first thought would have been the same as Bill's, that it was compaction but since she has been checked for that, I would head in another direction.
