Dana S--

I think you were being generous in saying that your ep experience was

like a dream. More like a nightmare, right??

I'm glad you'll be going to the dr. There are many women in this

group that have gone on to have healthy uterine pregnancies--so keep

the faith! Good luck tomorrow and let us know how it goes.

Dana,

You've come to the right place to share your fear, there are many

women who have been where you are right now and they are here to

help. We will cry with you, support you, comfort you and be a

shoulder to lean on.

Congrats on the 3 + tests results and no signs of danger, call your

dr. though and put your mind at ease.

Hi Dana,

First off, congrats on the + pg test!! That in itself is a milestone, I

know you are scared but please, please do call your dr. and get in for a

blood test, the only way you can find out if everything is going well

is to be monitored early. Your blood test results should double every

two to three days, that will be one positive sign, then when the level

gets a certain amount they can do an ultrasound to determine if the baby

is in the right place. My tube ruptured and had to be removed surgically

when I was only 7 weeks pg., so it is really important that the dr. know

that you have a pos. pg test ASAP. Let us know how it goes, we can all

help you with this and give you all the support you need.

by the way), so I can go by Dana S. Anyway, I had an ep in January 1999. I

had to have a surgery, my tube didn't actually rupture so it did not have to be

removed. I really don't know why the doctor left it in, it seems to me that

once that happens, with the scar tissue, it will be useless. At any rate, I

have never really dealt with it until now. I just took a home pregnancy test

and (3 of them actually, I think I am in denial) and they all came back

positive. I haven't even gone to the doctor yet. I am too scared. I don't

think I can go through that again. I haven't had any cramps or bleeding, so I

think I am ok. The thought of being poked every other day for blood tests and

playing the waiting game makes me crazy. I don't really know what else to say.

I have never belonged to a support group for anything before. I just needed an

outlet...

I'm sure you've already heard this since I'm a little behind in my

reading...PLEASE GO TO THE DOCTOR...I know it's terrifying to think

of it happening all over again, but going to the dr isn't going to

make the odds any worse...and if it does happen again, going to the

dr could very well save your life...and hopefully you'll get positive

news and then you can start trying to relax.

Thanks!

My ep happened in January of 99, so it's been awhile, but like I was saying,

I am really just coming around to dealing with it now. I went to the doctor

today and they confirmed that I am indeed pregnant, and gave me the first of

many blood tests. Now I get to play the waiting game. My husband doesn't

really understand things, even when I have tried to explain what I had to go

through, he means well, but I just don't think anyone can relate unless you

have gone through it yourself. Oh, by the way, I actually didn't have my

tube removed either, they were able to save it. (Just wanted to clarify).

When was your surgery?

Dana S.

I went in on Thursday and my hcg level was at 6k, then I went in last night

and I got a call from my doc today that my level jumped to 16k!!! She

didn't really say I didn't have to worry anymore though, does anyone know

how high it can get and still be an ep?

Wow, you caught it VERY early...and it more than doubled, but truly you

should keep getting monitored because I think when you catch it this early

it takes a while before the numbers tell you how well it's going. Though I

would be very encouraged that it has more than doubled. Do you know how many

dpo you are?

I don't think that there is a threshold that can be reached where a

pg is automatically ruled as not ectopic. It the rise in the

numbers, the doubling effect every 2-3 days, not the actual numbers

themselves. And your numbers have more than doubled in a couple days

so that looks good...will you be going for another test?

The biopsies here are still done frozen but there is a geneticist here that is very knowledgeable about the disease. He is at Children's Mercy Hospital. They have a very nice Mc house that you could stay at if needed. Tell me how far into diagnoses you are and what kind of medical issues your daughter has. The doctors name is Dr Disouki at Childrens Mercy Hospital. I depends what your looking for as far as medical needs. He might know just as much as your docs there..I don't know. Hope I can help! Judith,

I replied to your first post but obviously you never saw it. Here it is again below:

Judith,

Hiya!!! How are you doing? Me and another member remembered you the other day and she asked me what was happening with you. I'm glad you got in touch with us. Which country are you in now?

Regarding the ProfASHelp group. You joined this sub group remember? It was not active for a while and now it is picking up again. Did you want to email him? If you want to send an email to him through the sub group, then post to: ProfASHelp

What's been happening with you and your ashermans?

Hey! I apologize for not posting a message lately, but I have been

hurting with my Ashermans. Here is what is going on, then please,

send me any help you can add.

On last Wednesday (May 1) I started experiencing horrific pain in my

abdomain, then when I stood up to go to the Restroom, blood gushed

from me. I had not had a period in over a year - and there was enough

blood this time to think that someone had been murdered on my kitchen

floor. SO - I called my physican and he told me to go to the nearest

hospital emergency room. I did, and all that they could do was give

me morphine for the pain and a sonogram that showed nothing. So we

went home. The next AM I called a Gyno. that agreed to see me

immediately. After his exam, he agreed that I had all the symptoms of

Ashermans, so we scheduled a lap surgury on Sat.

After I woke up on from surgury, the Dr. told me that he had lasered

away as much scar tissue as possible, but since there was

an 'ungodly' amount, he had to leave some. BUT he did insert a baby

cathater, with a balloon attached on the end, so that it would keep

everything open until he could insert an IUD on Monday so that the

scarring would not close everything off. (He did tell me that my

monthly cycles had been backingup into my abdominal cavity, but it

had also just been forming blood pockets). On Monday, I went to get

the IUD - and couldnt. I now have an infection (slight fever, pain

still). So - we are now waiting till this coming Monday (MAy 13) to

try anf get the IUD in.

My question is this - is this a normal treatment of Ashermans?

Besides having a IUD in, is there something else we can do?

Basically, this is all happening so quickly, and I want everyones

opinion.

By the way, I still have the same exact pain that I had before the

operation. Is that normal?

,

I read your posts and don't have many answers for you, but I wanted

to let you know that if you don't feel right and nothing is making

sense, then it is probably a good idea to get another opinion from a

different doctor.

It is true that scarring of the uterus can block the shedding

endometrium from leaving your body correctly and therefore backing up

into the adominal cavity, which can cause endometriosis. It is also

true that endometriosis can cause severe pain.

With the infection, it is important to make sure that it is

completely cleared up before proceeding further. Did the doc take the

baloon catheter out since you had developed an infection?

Normally (from my best understanding of what I have read from others

on this site), it is preferred NOT to use a laser when removing scar

tissue from inside the uterus, due to the delicate nature of the

cavity and because the laser can sometimes indue more heat than would

be desirable into the uterine cavity.

If I was in your situation, with an infection, continuing pain and

the fact that all the scarring was not removed, I would treat the

infection and call another doctor for a second or third opinion of

your case.

Good luck.........W

, I'm sorry to hear that about your pain and depression. I wanted to

comment on the endometrosis. Pain during sex and

bowel movements are definite symptoms of endo and in serious cases abdominal

pain when you so much as sneeze or cough. I have

had 2 lap/hysts and I had extensive endo according to my 2nd surgeon (the first

one wasn't so skilled--he performed the D & C

that created my AS). My one ovary was strapped down over the uterus by scar

tissue and the outside of the uterus and bladder

were also affected but were successfully treated. There is also a high

probability that endo is hereditary. Does anyone in your

family have it? My sister had the worst case the doctor had ever seen and now

her 17 yr old has started the symptoms as well.

I never had any pain from AS only from the endo. If treated early endo can be

caught before any serious damage is done. I think

you should bring this up to your doctor at your next appointment. My sister's

family doctor pooh poohed her pain for years

before she finally was diagnosed and she had to have a total hysterectomy at 36.

I hope this helps you out.

Sounds like you have been through hell ! I am so sorry for you. My

Dr also had me on hormones (estrogen and provera)to help prevent

scarring or adhesion. I also had the baloon catheter.(but mine fell

out that same night or the day after I forget exactly when) I was

also told I had severe scarring and after my last surgery it is all

gone now. So there IS hope! And with your infection I hope your Dr

has given you some antibiotics! The lap is normal treatment of

Ashermans I have never used the IUD but I have heard of others using

it instead of the catheter. I personally never had any pain so I

can't help you with that question. I'll be praying for you

take care
