I’m sorry to hear about your neighbor’s brother. A liver transplant

is no easy surgery and terrible things can and do happen as we all know. It’s

a shame when it happens and causes great pain in those left behind.

There is however, a bright side to a

transplant too and we all need to keep our focus on that. What is the bright

side you might ask….Phil, Jacquelyn, , , Darin, Jim, Pat

Gleason, , Alison, Tim Long, Aubrey, Tim R., Dianne, , Ron, Rick,

Steve (twice!) Terry, Q. and this is by no means all of us who have had their

transplants and are living every day to its fullest. We just have to keep our

eyes on the prize and do whatever it takes.

Just wanted to inform you all that Pat passed away December 16th. He was waiting for a liver and kidney transplant, but had become too malnourished and weakened by the stresses caused by variceal bleeding and infections. He was unable to get the infections cleared and just became too much for him to fight anymore. His first transplant in 1991 gave him a good seven to eight years of service before he started to have recurring symptoms of PSC. While not everyone who gets a transplant makes it through, it is better to think positively and support those who do go through the process.

My heart goes out to you. At least now he is no longer suffering. It is

sometimes hard to understand why these things happen. May the good Lord

be with you.
