It may be the truth and I was aware of it before your post; however, it is

inappropriate to post it on this list. If you have a gripe with Dr. Bledsoe

then I suggest you email him privately with your complaint. I do not recall

seeing any posts where he is " throwing stones " .

I attended the conference as well. There were evaluation forms to evaluate

each of the speakers. Using those forms would seem to be more useful than

slamming him in your unsigned posts.

Dear Mr. or Ms. Anonymous

Most of us in the EMS community in Texas have known this information for a

while. And it doesn't make any difference.

Bledsoe has given so much to Emergency Medical Service that is good

that it far outweighs any sort of personal misstep that may have once taken

place.

Until you present your credentials to show what YOU have done for Texas EMS,

you have no voice here. You mention your " position in the medical

community? " What position? Not only that, you can't spell.

My sincere advice to you is to leave this list until you can play by the

rules, which are that you sign your posts and be personally responsible for

what you say.

I wasn't at any seminars! However, I made a comment that was misunderstood

one day and got the wrath of Bledsoe and followers on me until realized I was

really on his side. All I can say is whoever this idiot is that has the

balls to come out and say anything against Bledsoe whether it is true

or not (and as mentioned most people knew the situation because he is that

kind of guy, not better then us just because he has DR in front of his name)

better watch out because this group will go to the far end of the earth for

the man. And not signing your name....well you see what that does.

Dr. Bledsoe, I hope that you are doing well and we will run this asshole off

real quick!

For several years I was very active on this list server but have chosen to

just sit back and read the posts for the past few months or year. But I

cannot remain quiet now.

I am sorry, but if you don't have the gonads to identify yourself I really

don't think that you should be putting this type of information on the list

server. There is not end to the contributions that Dr. Bledsoe has made to

emergency medicine and EMS. What you posted may be true but as far as I am

concerned, it is mud slinging.

Why don't you grow up. This is something that a spoiled little child might

do.

SInce you don't have the integrity to sign your posts I would like to be the

first to tell you what a total jerk you are. I am guessing that you must have

something in your backrgound you might not want to publicize or you would have

identified yourself in your post. Folks like Dr Bledsoe, Bob K, Gene G and

several others on this list keep EMS professionals thinking about their

practices. I have no doubt that has forgot more about being a Paramedic

than you could possibly ever know. This post serves absoulutely no purpose, my

guess is that you think this will somehow gain you popularity with the masses,

let me assure you that those of us on the list that matter will not think any

different about Dr Bledsoe because you publicized the misfortune of a good man's

chronic illness. I, for one, am thankful that Dr Bledsoe is still a strong

advocate for quality patient care and holds EMS professionals accountable for

their actions. I am glad to call a respected collegue and friend.

You know, there was a person on this list once who called him/herself " foo " .

He/she used to post this kind of garbage message, and that person also

claimed to be hiding his/her identity for some similar reason. Few paid them

any attention, and eventually he/she gave us and went away. It didn't make

any sense then, it doesn't now. Foo eventually disappeared, as do all of

his/her/your ilk. Until you identify yourself, you are nobody. You are less

than nobody.

Your efforts to discredit Bledsoe will do you no good. You

" revelation " is nothing most didn't already know. It makes no difference to

us. Bledsoe is one of us. Who are you to be throwing stones? Until you

identify yourself, you are nobody.

I did attend both of the seminars you mention. I found them

entertaining and informative. In the CISM seminar Dr. Bledsoe

offered an overwhelming rebuttal of CISD, which Dr. could

not discount. From what I saw, mitchell didn't even try. Dr. Bledsoe

offered science and research. Dr. offered ancedote and

opinion, but his followers were wowed just the same. He could have

said that they should jump off the balcony and they would have done

it.

In the myths syminar, Dr. Bledsoe took a good hearted swipe at many

of our cherished beliefs. Even the helicopter jockys in the crowd

came up to shake his hand after he took pot shots at them. I have to

agree with the other person (Larry?) who said you must be one of the

CISM people. Everybody else took the flack with grace. The CISM

people acted as if Dr. Bledsoe had peed on their bible.

I think you choose not to sign your post because you are a coward. I

don't believe you have a position in the medical community.

So are you telling the group that you have no skeletons in YOUR closet anywhere

either? You know, this particular type of thing is counter-productive to what

we are trying to accomplish through this list. Please take no personal offense

Ok....I have to say something. I didn't attend both classes at the

conference, however, I did go to the " Myths of EMS " class. Both out

of curiosity, and because I wanted to hear Dr. Bledsoe speak. I

went knowing he was going to discuss some very controversial things,

and went with an open mind. Dr. Bledsoe is entitled to his opinion,

and to interpret the facts as he wishes. That is a freedom awarded

us by the constitution. The very essence of being an American is

the freedom to do these things, along with the freedom of speech.

Not everyone will agree with us, and not everything we say will be

taken as it is meant. Sometimes we mean one thing and it comes

across sounding like we mean a completely different thing. I for

one didn't agree with everything he said, but then again, I am

entitled to that opinion, the same as he is entitled to his.

Frequently Dr. Bledsoe makes comments that he knows are going to be

very inflamatory, but he knows that up front. I personally feel

however, that he could have done a little less name calling during

his lectures. That's my $0.02 for what it's worth.

We all have made mistakes in our lives that we are neither proud of or wish

to have thrown in our faces ( maybe that is why EMTP in TX didn't sign the

post). This person is either very young or old, very outspoken and most

assuredly very bitter. Nonetheless, these are not traits of a professional

medical person and certainly not welcome in a Paramedic.

If you cannot respect the man, then at least respect the position. Better

yet, if you can't say anything constructive or NICE, then get the H#** off

this list server.

A profession doesn't grow unless it can look at itself critically. Dr.

Bledsoe is a facilitator in many ways, and in this instance he makes us

THINK to defend our positions, right , wrong, or indifferent. Dogma

doesn't belong in a dynamic profession. EMS will not be a profession

until we realize that.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the conference. I have no dog in

the fight about Myths, , and whatever oxen may have been gored.

However, the attempts to discredit Dr. Bledsoe are pitiful, and only

illustrate how UN- professional some of us can be.

Whoever this person (I am using the term loosely) is that's posting this

stuff shows characteristics of being an out of work political campaign

manager or an unemployed manure spreader. Not much difference, in this

circumstance.

I'm sorry folks but I have to chime in here.

It would appear from all of the very passionate posts that have been written

on Dr. Bledsoe's behalf, that we are eager in this industry to seek justice

before finding out if the accused party is in fact guilty. I have great

difficulty with you all publicly crucifying a fellow worker based upon

someone's idea of revenge or retribution and utilizing an individual's name

with the intent to discredit that person.

I too know Hicks personally, and have never found him to be anything

less than a stand up individual and seriously doubt he would ever subject

himself to this type of public slander.

It is disconcerting that we can collectively jump on the wagon to seek our

own form of cyber justice. I would hope that everyone would take a couple of

steps back the next time before flaming the next individual who may suffer

from this type of injustice.

, don't let it get the best of you, just know you have tons of support

as well out here.

I had the pleasure and privilege of attending the Myths and CISM lecture at

EMStock, as a preview before the conference.

Dr Bledsoe (or as I'm finally comfortable calling him after that

weekend) ran through the slides for us, talked through them as we went and

accepted criticism and comment as we went along. We had private EMS folks,

air medical folks, fire-based EMS folks, CISM team leads and all sorts

there, sitting on his couches going through the slides. NOBODY got

offended, everyone at least learned something. And if they walked out not

seeing it 's way, his ONLY challenge was " prove it to me - show me the

evidence. "

I attended his CISM " debate " with Dr (who, we should note, has a

doctorate in Economics, not in Psychology, to be clear on credentials). It

was *not* a debate and was stacked against Dr. B from the outset. Still, he

presented a fact based presentation and had the studies to back up his

assertions. Also, Dr. B's attempt to have the debate taped was thwarted at

the last minute by one of Dr 's staff (acting in concert with the

TDH coordinator) - apparently there was little to no desire to have this

performance in any repeatable format - and now I know why.

I don't always agree with Dr. Bledsoe at first, but looking at the evidence

I tend to swing around the way he seems to be leading. Maybe it's because

he's an authority, maybe it's because he simply has the evidence and the

" other side " (of whatever issue) doesn't... either way, it's never because

he threw rocks to win.

I work at Brackenridge. I see the R/M Bastrop folks on an almost daily

basis. I usually look at them with a smile, now I'll probably just feel

sorry for them because I know what an intemperate, inconsiderate jerk they

work for.

, I don't work for you... but if I did, I'd be asking for your

resignation. In fact, as a member of the EMS community, I'll ask for it

now. You've disgraced yourself, your position, your company and through

your simple association with paramedicine, me. Please, find another

career... this one doesn't seem cut out for you.

My hope is if this individual is truly responsible for this behavior, he

gets a lesson in " actions having consequences " - severe ones.

I would be embarrassed having this individual in MY employment. An

astounding lack of judgement for someone in a position (at least by

I too will chime in here. This information is not new and for some petty reason

you are wishing to discredit a man who (no matter what) will have always done

more for Texas EMS than most of us and, especially, you. " Mitchelite " - that may

be exactly where this comes from. presented a very sound side to the CIS

debate in Austin. It's good food for thought and he makes us all think. If you

were there, you missed his points. I'm disgusted (like many others) that

" emtpintx " placed his/her post. I'm certain they do not know Bledsoe. If

they did - the post wouldn't have happened. 's a very good person, has

been dedicated to EMS for years, and is good for Texas EMS. Period. As Jane Hill

stated about skeletons in the closet - we've all got them - what's yours

emtpintx? (not that we really want to know).
