But RED meat. They clog you up & loosen you up simultaneously. Cats. Good

for snugglin', not for snackin'.

Hey Guys,

How many inches is a normal Distal Bypass supposed to be? I just recently

found out that mine is 40 inches, but I'm still not clear on what that

means. Can someone please clear this up for me.

Thanks

Mich

Barb--

I'm certainly no expert on this, but I think that you have a healthy fear.

That means that you've made the committment to yourself, and will die trying

not to let yourself down. That's the way I look at it, and I guess it's

working ok. I know that I have to relax a bit and not be so hard on myself.

But I'm willing to give myself time--it took a long time to develop bad

eating habits, so they aren't going to change overnight either. Keep

listening to your stomach, it's a good friend right now. And congratulations

on your ski adventure...we'll have to go together sometime. Keep it up, kid.

Bob--

I'm sooo glad that you'll live here, even though we DO allow cats in the good

old USA!

I can't really answer your question except to share my situation. My

doc doesn't measure the amt of bypass... one reasons is because

everyone has different lengths of intestine. He measures the amount

of common channel from the cecum (where the small intestine ends) ...

that is, he measures the amount of small intestine which is not

bypassed by food or bile acids & has full absorption... I have 100

cm of common channel. I think 40 inches sounds proximal to me

because I have many feet bypassed.

Trish - 40 " of common channel is very distal/ A proximal would have between

15 and 18 feet of common channel.

Yep, us 's are identical twins with our 40-inchers. Even done a few

weeks apart by Dr Fox!

Thanks,

Here is a place from which I have ordered low carb products including bread

and bagels. They aren't bad. It is expensive and there is a shipping charge.
