Guest guest
Hey Guys, How many inches is a normal Distal Bypass supposed to be? I just recently found out that mine is 40 inches, but I'm still not clear on what that means. Can someone please clear this up for me. Guest guest
Barb-- I'm certainly no expert on this, but I think that you have a healthy fear. That means that you've made the committment to yourself, and will die trying not to let yourself down. That's the way I look at it, and I guess it's working ok. I know that I have to relax a bit and not be so hard on myself. But I'm willing to give myself time--it took a long time to develop bad eating habits, so they aren't going to change overnight either. Keep listening to your stomach, it's a good friend right now. And congratulations on your ski adventure...we'll have to go together sometime. Keep it up, kid. --El
Guest guest
Bob-- I'm sooo glad that you'll live here, even though we DO allow cats in the good old USA! --El
Guest guest
I can't really answer your question except to share my situation. My doc doesn't measure the amt of bypass... one reasons is because everyone has different lengths of intestine. He measures the amount of common channel from the cecum (where the small intestine ends) ... that is, he measures the amount of small intestine which is not bypassed by food or bile acids & has full absorption... I have 100 cm of common channel. I think 40 inches sounds proximal to me because I have many feet bypassed. Trish > > >Hey Guys, > >How many inches is a normal Distal Bypass supposed to be? Guest guest
Trish, we have 40 " of common channel. Dr Fox also measures form the back end! Guest guest
Trish - 40 " of common channel is very distal/ A proximal would have between 15 and 18 feet of common channel.
