Guest guest
Thanks for sending this one in . I was beginning to think I was delusional. I did a quick look up on Reich and found a page that discussed his theories on Armoring which sound quite similar to what Ken posted to the list recently. " Our finest feelings are polluted with negative distortions. We have become incapable of honesty. We cease to be rationally hating individuals, degenerating into superstitious hostility toward the unfamiliar and an 'us vs. them' mentality. One could say that successfully armoring someone is synonymous with breaking their spirit. It takes a extraordinarily resilient spirit to resist the perpetual pressure to join the armored masses " As I read that I thought to myself that this list has a lot of resilient spirits. People who've managed to resist the armored masses in XA and who absolutely refuse to be pulled back into the XA armoring process. I wonder though, if in the process, some of us didn't armor ourselves in the opposite direction. Myself included. So how do you know if you have? And if you have how do you break the connection? Hell I don't know if I'm even making any sense so I'm cutting this one short. Re: SF - short story Dear Bjorn Good to hear from you again. Guest guest
Dear Glad you found Reich interesting -- he was healthily persona non-grata with the hard-core Freudites and remains an extremely provocative thinker. Claimed to have repelled a fleet of " UFOs " one night with remarkable success by means of his " orgone gun " . No wonder they locked him up . . I didn't think K's post made a lot of sense -- there was a bad whiff of non-sequitur in its " cogito interruptus " leap into the horrors of child-abuse. Anyway, more power to the resilient spirits (it ain't that easy being one these days, but, as the man said, it's a hard life if you don't weaken and FREEDOM is such a marvellous thing). As they say in Bonnie Scotland, lang may wir lums reek. Guest guest
I read the definition and see what you mean, and will comment more fully later, since I'm going out of town for a few days tomorrow (or Friday). However, the site you referred me to is one of the most hate-filled I have ever seen. Everybody but white European male heterosexual Christians are derided and demeaned. Guest guest
Thanks for the Reich lead -- I've just looked at the definition of " armoring " -- it's impressive stuff. Did you see " WR: Mysteries of the Organism " ? It was a cheap 'n' cheerful film, but I imagine it captured something of the spirit of Reich's work, especially his early politicised days. While it's so easy to misread him as a deranged sexual libertarian, there seems to be a unique core of truth in his work. He claimed to use his orgone gun to dispel " UFOs " and played some very dangerous games with radium, etc. I believe he ended up in jail because of his experiments with radiation. I saw some useful material about him in " Fortean Times " , though I can't give references. Best wishes . > >Reply-To: 12-step-freeegroups >To: <12-step-freeegroups> >Subject: RE: Re: SF - short story >Date: Wed, 24 May 2000 16:59:12 -0500 > >Hi Kayleigh: The third red paragraph on the page linked below >defines it. > >http://www.aidaparker.org/bh/reich/ > > Re: SF - short story > >, what is " armoring " ? > > > > Thanks for sending this one in . Guest guest
Sorry I didn't spend much time there. When I bookmarked it I was looking for the definition myself and used find feature in my browser. I felt more comfortable relying on another's definition of the concept as it is new to me. Guest guest
I wonder if Kayleigh is referring to the " Black Helicopter Chronicles, " the parent page to the page about Reich. One title caught my eye, Walking While White, which I followed up. It turned out to be an article by a white woman about her fear of racially motivated gang rape. Guest guest
Gawd, I must be one sick puppy :-) Went back to read some more. Kayleigh may have seen the extensive defamation of Diane Feinstein, under 'America's most dangerous female.' The article about the little black helicopters and how the UN is smuggling Russian pilots into the country to fly them had me rofl. http://www.aidaparker.org/bh/Black_Helicopter_Page.html Now that I've clicked on the site a couple of times I'll probably soon have a mailbox stuffed with invitations to come to Montana and learn how to fight it out with the jack-booted thugs of the ATF, advertisements for mail-order assault weapons, etc. etc. Surf at your own risk... --wally RE: Re: SF - short story >I wonder if Kayleigh is referring to the " Black Helicopter Chronicles, " the >parent page to the page about Reich. Guest guest
-----Original Message----- >You could write an article and call it Walking While Wally. If I ever do a personal web page it might well be along the lines of 'Walking While Wally', with some of the best of my innumerable photos from New Hampshire mountaintops. Walking is one of my main 'substitute addictions.' Seems appropriate that I still 'get high' but now I do it on foot. Somehow I don't think that's what the Black Helicopter people are looking for, though :-). Btw their 'Walking While White' article might more appropriately have been called 'Walking While Small And/Or Female.' I walked around the city for years and never had any kind of problem. I suspect that when people saw me in neighborhoods where I 'didn't belong' they assumed I was a plainclothes cop. --wally > >Judith > >On Thu, 25 May 2000 12:25:49 -0400, 12-step-freeegroups wrote: > >> Gawd, I must be one sick puppy :-) Went back to read some more. As I think about it, interracial rape where the victim is white, has historically been unhealthy for the attacker as well (lynch mobs, etc.). And what of interracial rape where the victim is not white? I don't mean to minimize a woman's concern about safety, but my fears are equal-opportunity: I don't imagine I'd relish being attacked by white men, either.
