Hi Terry;

I'm sorry to hear about your dreadful pain and trip to the ER. It

could be related to your gallbladder or other organs connected to

biliary tree (for example pancreas)? One cause of the pain might be a

gallstone, or a bile stone. But the only persons that could diagnose

this for sure would your doctors based on careful examination and

analysis of your blood samples. I hope you get an answer soon.

Best wishes, and take care.

That's exactly what I was thinking...pancreatitis!!!

Re: 1st time gone to ER

Terri,

It could have been Pancreatitus. I sorry if it hurt, but I know that it

can be painful. It could also have been a gallstone attack. Hope your

doctor can solve it for you.

I just wanted to weigh in on this. I am new to the site (today is my

1st day) and I have had this happen several times. It could be that

the pain is from an infection in the bile ducts. I have had this a

number of times in 2 years since being diagnosed. I then double up

on the cipro and the pain goes away. My numbers usually rise as well

when the pain occurs. It also goes away with the extra cipro.

Good luck

Steve you're probably right. People w. PSC as prone to recurrent

bacterial cholangitis or infection (bugs)in the bile/bile ducts.

Shaking chills or rigors is a sign of infection and usually

accompanied by fever. What I think happens is you develop a partial

biliary drainage obstruction (ie a clogged bile drain) which then

gets a little bugy and then get squirted into the bowel, or Cipro

kicks in and you feel better. But let your doc know about the extra

doses (patients are sometimes our best teachers).

Terri - I'm not sure that you shortness of breath wasn't caused by

the pain which you said was more than ever. But shortness of breath

usually needs _immediate_ medical attention.

Feel Well!
