Guest guest
Dear Group, I hope everyone is doing well today. I just wanted to let you all know that I have been campaigning on our behalf. And ask if anyone has any suggestions for what I am doing. I am have been E-mailing and calling my local paper, The Asheville Citizen-Times, Asheville, N.C. trying to get them to pick up the story about Shauna from the Raleigh Observer. As I am on the other end of the state I feel that maybe this story might give someone a nudge in the direction to organ donation, maybe helping Shauna along the way. Because the story has not been picked up by the Associated Press they are not at liberty to use it. So I asked that they do a story using me instead as local interest and so far they are not inclined. They also told me that they did not want to run that story as there was no local interest! Oh well, I had to swallow hard and then say there were many people in this area that were or will be in the same shape someday. That cut no ice either. So I have not given up- I am calling the editor of the paper shortly and I am also calling the associated press as well. IF anyone has any suggestions bring them on. Thanks, Ali Ali Lingerfelt-Tait alisoikias@... 411 charlotte st. asheville, N.C. 28801 828 253-8996 -Recycle yourself - become an organ and tissue donor

Guest guest
Ali, I think your best bet at this point would be to write a “Letter to the Editor” stating all the things you want to say. Look in the newspaper to see what their policy is on printing letters and follow their rules closely. After you write your letter, go back and remove all the unnecessary words and condense, condense, - they like short pieces. The second thing you can try is to make “friends” with a writer already on the papers payroll and convince him/her to write a story. Good Luck! Guest guest
How about a letter to the editor of your paper? This way it wouldn't be on them to decide the content, and you have just as much of a chance of getting it published as anyone else writing in on any issue. I'm sure if you wrote a heart-wrenching plea for organ donation, they'd be inclined to use it - especially if you did so in light of the giving of the holiday season. Just a thought!
