Guest guest
I'm a 44 year old male, with OA of the right hip. I'm slowly working my way towards THR or resurfacing (I hope). There has been a long, slow degeneration since my original injury in basic training. The pain has always been a sharp groin pain that also radiates down the thigh. Pain increases on extension and has had a marked impact on my gait - I have a negative 10 degree flexion contracture. X-Ray eveidence shows that I am now bone on bone, zero joint spacing with some flattening of the femoral head. All of this to say that my real concern is now my 'good' hip. For about two months now I have had a sharp /focused burning on the trochanter tuberosity that increases with exercise, hurts more if I bend over at the waist and a few other things. There is also a deep burning at the base of the buttock when I sit. This pain can get quite uncomfortable. Does this sound like the pains any of you have had. If so, what is causing it in your case? I worry that it might be AVN or some other scary thing that will serve to limit the miles I'm going to get out of the joint. Opinions. Cal ps: I have an appointment with my orthopod 8 March but would like to get a grassroot opinion from fellow OA sufferers.
