Guest guest
We use the Plantronice wireless in my part-time agency. I've actually been very happy with it. I don't know what model ours. I read Jim's reply about the hand trigger. The model we're using has a small box the size of a pager that can clip to a belt or belt loop. There is a power button and push-to-talk on that box along with volume buttons. Jim is right that the batteries don't last as long as I would like but we havn't had any other problems with the sets. Guest guest
We are using Plantronics.. unk which model and we like them, the batteries dont last as long as we would like, but we have several back up batteries and that seems to work for us. Its worth it to not be tied by a cord!!!!
Guest guest
We're using the same that others have mentioned. the cons are: Battery life - I can get 4.5 - 5 hours (working dayshift solo doing phones and radio) out of 1 fully charged battery. Longer if you're not so busy. Some of our batteries, when they die, they die with only 1 beep of warning. Usually you get a couple of beeps and have enough life to advise your caller to hold. It's scary when they just die cause then people think y ou've hung up on them. The size is nice and compact, but you have to be careful where you place the battery pack. If you put it on your hip and lean just right on the arm of the chair, it will power down and you don't even know it. There's an audible beep when you power it up, but not when you power it down. The location of the push to talk button is cumbersome. too close to the power button. And using the push to talk button leaves a funny sounding " clunk " sound on the other end. Doesn't happen when using the foot pedal. Several of the connections can come undone and you're not aware of it until you go to transmit and realize you're not going out. But the benefit of being able to talk to someone as you go somewhere else in the room outweighs all these other problems. We've only had one stuck open mic with ours.. and it was the swing guy in the bathroom trying to hurry.. you hear on the tape (which of couse we all had to hear) was " grunt " , " grunt " , " grunt " .. " oh G dammit " (muttered when he heard the phone ringing with an officer calling to say he had an open mic!!) No one has figured out how he got it stuck open! kathy
