Guest guest
ANTHONY, NO FEAR OF GOD HERE, JUST FOLLOWING MY RULES AND GUIDELINES SET BEFORE ME ON OUR INFORMATION CHANNELS FOR TERRORISM. SORRY IF YOU TOOK IT AS A DIRECT INSULT TO YOU. TAKING HOMELAND SECURITY SERIOUSLY IS SOMETHING WE SHOULD ALL DO, NO MATTER WHAT. YOUR OFFICIAL IDENTIFICATION CAN BE PURCHASED ANYWHERE. SO WHAT GOOD WOULD THAT HAVE DONE TO EASE MY MIND AS TO WHO YOU ARE? EVERYONE IS GOING ON ABOUT THIS, THE ONES THAT GAVE INFO ARE TRYING TO JUSTIFY IT AND THE ONES THAT DIDN'T ARE DOING THE SAME, BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS NO ONE SHOULD GIVE OUT THAT KIND OF INFORMATION TO ANYONE, PERIOD, AND IF IT WAS INFORMATION THAT HAD COME OUT IN THE PAST THEN IT WAS WRONG. I AM NOT A PARANOID PERSON, JUST A RESPONSIBLE ONE

SO WHAT GOOD WOULD THAT HAVE DONE TO EASE MY MIND AS TO WHO YOU ARE? Definitely have to agree on this one. As a PT airline worker, I have been subject to all types of 'official ID'. Diplomats drive me mad! We have had FAA stings in regards to this. There are soooo many different ones, and I prefer to 'tick off' the officials vs the opposite and allow someone who should not be near the aircraft to be unescorted. Heck, I 'tick off' my fellow supervisors and employees. I don't care. I don't want an incident on my shift because some ones feelings might be hurt. Better that and they take a blow to their ego than we have innocent pax and civilians pay dearly for it. The way I see it, they want to be incognito - I want everyone to be safe. If the Sheriffs allow them through, or the FAA when called to verify, then I have done my job if God forbid something goes wrong. Have I been disciplined for this? You betcha! and proudly so! The FAA backs me up every time as well as Airport Operations. On a side note, I did catch an FAA plane inspector who did not belong on our grounds. He was from ORD. I refused him entry to the concourse. Just because he flashed his 'badge' he thought he could have unescorted access. It didn't mean a thing to me. He went downstairs to another airlines counter, got a 'backway in' trip across the tarmac, and when I saw him upstairs walking around, I called not only the Sheriffs, OPs, our local FAA officials, BUT the OA GM who came down to the airport, and caught the guy going through his filing cabinents. Yes, he was fired (as was the airline worker for not following procedure) and brought up on federal charges as well the OA (other airline) filing charges with the local authorities for trespassing, etc. It didn't matter that he was an FAA employee. He broke the law and used his ID to do so.
Guest guest
As an old guy who must read 100 e-mails a day, I rather enjoy an e-mail that is all in CAPS, cause it makes it easier to read. I don't know what all this bitching is about shouting. Who really cares? Guest guest
I also want to say that my comments were not directed to nor a criticism of Freida. Freida, I am sorry if they came off that way. They \were just an expression of my thoughts. This list is a wonderful--and open minded--forum to ask questions, share the trial and tribulations of what we do, and most importantly, get information, and hopefully learn something. And of course it is the responsibility--and right---of each member to make their own decisions regarding what they want to say; just as it should be. So, speaking for myself, but probably reflecting the sentiment of the list, put your feet up and stay awhile with a great group of professionals. Just appreciate the complexity of our world, and the wide range of opinions that generates. ..
