Pancreatic enzymes are given in the hopes of their presence in the blood giving a message to the pancreas that it doesn't need to keep churning out digestive enzymes; the enzymes are already in place for digestion. Do the enzymes work? Not well as far as I can tell, but they don't hurt anything except the pocketbook, so I keep taking them. Hope this info helps. I'm sure others can answer better.
