Guest guest Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 , I'm quite familiar with the Slater area - I went to school at Central Methodist, in Fayette. Spent most of my adult life in the St. Louis area, and then moved to the Quad Cities area of Iowa in '97 for a job. Iowa City is about a 4.5 hour drive from Slater (don't take the route that Mapquest suggests, you'll spend all day driving between one-horse towns). I'm guessing that's not much longer than the drive from Slater to downtown St. Louis. I have been very pleased with the care I have received at U of IA, which has the added benefit of having a relatively short transplant waiting list. For more information about U of IA, go to http://www.uihealthcare.com/uihospitalsandclinics/ . It's surprising to me, given the result of the ERCP, and the lab values, and also the presence of UC, that the diagnosis was not more definitively PSC. I don't want to wish bad news on anybody, but if she were my daughter, and was showing the symptoms she has recently, together with her history, I would be aggressive in pursuing a re-examination, with the object of understanding what her condition is now, and developing a plan for treatment. I know that dealing with teenagers is difficult, but she needs to understand the implications of her disease, and she might be more receptive to it if it comes from the doctors. After all, we all know that parents are the least intelligent species on the earth, right? :-)Steve Rahn PSC '80 --> L Tx 9/6 & 9/8 '85 (Wash U. - St. Louis) Recurrent PSC '02 -->(re)Born on the 4th of July, 2003(Re-L Tx at U of Iowa) "Solve the problem, not the solution" (Dean Kamen) -- ___________________________________________________________Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup Quote
