Guest guest Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 When I had to have my stomach removed, my blood pressure stayed up for quite a while afterward. I had to take blood pressure medicine for the first time in my life. I think it was caused by the trauma of the surgery and adjustments my body was trying to make. It eventually went back down. The doctors didn't seem worried about it at all and I think they probably even expected it. I was also in pain. Even today, when my pain is bad most people don't know it because I hide it well but I can't hide it when they take my blood pressure because it always goes up when I am in alot of pain. Also I have had to have cortisone shots in the past and they always make my blood pressure go up for a few days afterward so I wonder too if the steroids don't contribute to high blood pressure. Terry I am on a lot of steriods, have been for a number of years. In my opinion steriods can contribute to a rise in blood pressure but it takes a lot of them to do that. However everyone is different so what is true for me may not be true for you. Gwen Quote
