Guest guest
Hi Sally, I have been fighting with insurance to get them to cover a Vail bed for Dylan. As of the summer the response was they could not do it as a first response, and we needed to try other things first - there suggestion to put a mattress on the floor and lock the door, even though they also tell me the bed is too confining. In the meantime I have been collecting data on how he sleeps in different settings and on his neurological issues. With the stuff with Tyler I have not tackled that one again. Tyler goes to court tomorrow, then we have 2 times traveling in Dec. that I will record data on, then back to the insurance company in January. I know this bed seems confining, but I think Dylan would love it. I know if he transitioned to it now it would be fine, but if we wait I see it becoming a problem. Guest guest
Thanks Cathie, I have looked at it. I like it, because the rails do not go as high, Dylan does not really need it going all the way up and having the top covered. The thing I don't like is the plexiglass rails. The way he needs input it is much safer for him to get it kicking against mesh than against plexiglass. Guest guest
Good luck in court tomorrow. Too bad the insurance doesn't understand that some kids find confinement comforting. (my 13-yr-old non-CHARGEr) has always loved small spaces. When he got out of his crib, he slept under the toddler bed instead of on it! And he used to love sleeping in a rubbermaid container (no lid, of course). Now he has a bunk bed, and I don't think he'd feel comfortable if we took the top bunk off. He likes to hang a blanket over to make a tent down below. Michele W >
