you have to clamp the extension tube and nothing will leak out. if its

leaking from the button, the lock must be broken., if you dont line the black

lines up when putting on or tkaing it off it breaks the seal.

I was just going to say the same myself. I love the mic key personally. It

helps me to know for sure when it's ready to go and when it's safe to take

it out. Also I like the fact that it stops where it needs to about 3/4 turn

around from the line. I am so grateful my dr decided on that for .

Well darn it must have been broken already b/c it spews out formula

from the button, and turns all the way around. We've only had it

ten days! I guess I better call the GI then.

thanks

Great advice....'s came out when he had croup...we went to the ER at Yale

and the Dr. had no idea how to do it...luckily they had a replacement and my mom

( who is a nurse) was able to show the Dr. how to insert.. the next day I called

our medical supply company and she got authorization from 's Dr. and the

insurance company to keep a spare on hand at home.It was great because she had

the right lingo to get it approved quickly....it was delievered that afternoon.

We did not have the leaking problem but did pop it every 30 days...our rep

at the supply company again did a lot to help me..she found a low profile button

that lasted 6 months...only needed to replace 2 times a year.Since they were

testing it for future use we tested it for them for free..they offered us 2 for

free and they really worked well...Another mom who's daughter has had her tube

much longer uses this button and it has lasted as long as a year....the name

escapes me at this time but I can look back in my records if you would like. It

was a much better fit for ...He has since had his g-tube removed and has

grown by leaps and bounds...6 pounds and 6 inches in a year.

Good luck.....

just one of us home. Also one time we had it pop in the middle of no where

and we ran to the ER because we weren't home witha spare, and my husband had

to show the doctor in this small town how to put it back in. Again, I'm so

grateful my dr showed us how. And a spare is such a blessing.

We didn't have a leaking problem either as long as it was clamped. I think

you might have something wrong. But I wanted to offer other advice to new

g-tubers. Learn what to do when it comes out of the stomach! Our GI never

told us

this at the beginning and our lack of information caused some un-necessary

problems. If you don't know what to do, write back and I'll guide you

through the

process. Also, make your insurance give you a spare that you can keep at

home.

We had to fight hard for this but it made life a whole lot simpler.

Good luck with your leaking problem.
