Guest guest
Rafi, Usually when there is a significant blockage, the stool will turn light... anywhere from a clay color to almost white. Urine, on the other hand, will become very dark. One of the doctors here can correct me if I'm wrong, but dark (specifically, black) stool is an indication of gastrointestinal bleeding. Call your doc. Best, Bill PSC '00, Listed Tx 11/
Guest guest
Dear Rafi; Dark colored stools are signs of bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003130.htm " A black stool usually means that the blood is coming from the upper part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This includes the esophagus, stomach, or first part of the small intestine. Blood will typically appear like tar after it has been exposed to the body's digestive juices. Stomach ulcers caused by ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin are common causes of upper GI bleeding. " So I would agree with what others have already suggested, and that is to have your mother checked by a doctor as soon as possible. Swelling of the abdomen can occur in late stage PSC, but there can be other causes. Only doctors would be able to diagnose these other possible causes of abdominal swelling: http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec10/ch135/ch135f.html Best regards, Dave (father of (19); PSC 07/03; UC 08/03) > i am not new i partispate on and off my mother pSC > diagnosed on 2002 but i think it starts on 1995 she > had ERCP on sep 2003and put stent on her bile duct. > her feets are swell on and off she take some tablet > for this swelling but now one week ago she complain > some swelling on her abdomen too and her stool color > is also dark is it means that her ble duct is block > again and she needs to go to ERCP. > i read on net when swelling occur on your abdomen its > a last stage of PSC is it true? > rafi > >
