Guest guest
If she is considered deaf/blind does she have vision? Is there a field loss? Is the signing where she is able to see it? If she can't see it can she feel it? Does she know what is going to happen before it happens? Is she hearing impaired or deaf? What is her hearing? She might be a smart little whip who can hear only a little but can fill in the blanks. Patty does that and people assumed she could hear better than she actually did. I also believe in using a variety of communication devices and programs. Oh and if she has visual ability even if she is deaf she might be able to see what is being said by lipreading. Patty is a pro at lip reading. She is also a pro at reading body language. But it is ever so important for us to be facing her to have her ear clearly. Even though she is hearing impaired she has missed out on much communication. Patty is totally vocal but she now signs... Gosh that is one of those things I wish she did continually. Signing is wonderful for her now and should have been as she went through school. It would have been easier for her to learn. Can you have your teacher contact your deaf/blind program in your state to assist all of you? Guest guest
Thanks Bonnie. I am always afraid I say to much when it comes to behavior, but it bothers me so much how " blamed " our kids can be, when there is so much else involved than a simple choice to " be bad " .
