Guest guest
Dear Pam; The symptoms you describe are several of those associated with " cholestasis " most probably caused by a bile-duct stricture: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000215.htm Cholestasis symptoms: Itching Jaundiced (yellow) skin or eyes Inability to digest certain foods Nausea, vomiting Right upper quadrant abdominal pain Organ failure in cases of sepsis (but not from cholestasis itself) Rash or fever in some cases of drug-induced cholestasis Clay-colored or white stools Dark urine If you have not already contacted your doctor about the changes you have experienced during the last week, you should probably do so soon. If you develop chills or a fever, this could be due to " cholangitis " , a bacterial infection, which can occur when the duct is obstructed by a stricture. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000290.htm Cholangitis symptoms: recurrent jaundice abdominal pain in the right upper quadrant or middle of the upper abdomen may be recurrent sharp or cramping or dull may radiate to the back or below the right shoulder blade chills fever stools, clay colored (may occur) dark urine (may occur) nausea vomiting Antibiotic therapy can eliminate the infection. Obstructed bile ducts may be drained, dilated or stented by ERCP. Best regards, Dave (father of (19); PSC 07/03; UC 08/03; no jaundice; total bilirubin 1.2; no dark urine; no clay stools; not yet listed) > > hello- > of the people on here who are listed for a new liver, are all of you > yellow all the time now, with yellow eyes? i just turned yellow this > week and wonder if it is going to be like that from now on, or if it > wll come and go. Guest guest
Only during a cholangitis episode (I am not yet listed). I have not experienced these symptoms since common bile duct dilatation and stenting 3 years ago. Guest guest
Pam, Yes, yes, and sometimes. This has been intermittant throughout my disease until this year when my billiurbin has consistantly been above 7. (It is now 12.3.) If this is a new development, your doc should hear about it. It may be that there is something like an ERCP that they can do to help resolve it. This helped me lots in the past. And yes, people stare...
