You have my sympathy. I was okay the first couple of nights & then

I got virtually no sleep for weeks. Would love to know what the

culprit was. I didn't take pain killers in the hospital or at home

(only cause I couldn't swallow the doggone things) so it wasn't

that. Thought at first it was cause I had slept too much the first

couple of days. But I was like a walking zombie after the first week

& just couldn't go to sleep for more than 2 hours at night. (I

managed a few catnaps sitting upright in a chair outside on my back

porch but only 20 minute spells. The sun made me sleep better.)

Good luck & if you ever hear what causes it then please let me know.

,

We all sympathize with you!! For me it was a matter of not being

able to get comfortable. I hated trying to sleep all propped up!

Between that and the pain/swelling/congestion, there was no way I was

sleeping more than a few hours at a time!! It took me 'til around

the 4 week mark before I could lay relatively flat (only used 2

pillows) and get any kind of decent sleep.

How post-op are you? I can't say I'm missing out on sleep, instead,

I'm sleeping like a log all the time. Did you take meds every three

hours, or at a certain time? Maybe you've just programmed your body

really well. Not that you want it to be, but that's my only

suggestion. I'm kinda jealous, I can't seem to sleep enough. Oh

well, I guess nobody gets what they want.

This is day 6. The only med I HAVE to take is the antibiotic, and

that's four times a day with each meal. If I choose to take the

codeine, it makes me drowsy and I end up napping throughout the day.

Therefore, I've only used it a couple of times.

Right after I wrote my original message, I lied down on the couch for

a bit and fell into a solid two hours of sleep. I took no meds at

the time, but it was the deepest sleep I've had since pre-op.

And I'm not letting myself take any naps today - not so much as a 10

minute power snooze; so I'll see if it's better tonight.
