I am breast-feeding and he refuses to take a bottle for longer than maybe 2 minutes if you're lucky. I'm getting married on April 30, and we probably won't be able to go on a honeymoon because of the bfing. I am a stay-at-home-mom. I am Wendi sahm to Kaija 7yo(homeschools) & Zaid 17 months (nursing). I live in North. Calif. with my husband. I will be 30 on Wednesday. AAAAHHH! Welcome. You will get plenty of support here. I'm new to this list and wanted to introduce myself. I'm 19 years old and I've been married almost a year (April 18th will be ONE YEAR, WooHoo!) to my wonderful hubby Nate (Lowride193-some of you might know him from AOL's Life-Pregnant chat; he's been coming in there since i was pregnant). is (of course) breastfed and has only ever had one bottle in her life (that was one ounce of breastmilk which i hand expressed--- that sucked!). I'm sure you all could have guessed already that I am a stay at home mommy. I don't have much support from my family about breastfeeding, my sister nor my mom did it and they pretty much think that I'm crazy for doing it. I do have support from my hubby's family, it seems like all of them breastfed, lol. My mom has been on me from the day I brought home from the hospital to start her on cereal, but we're waiting til she is 6 months to start that. And of course the think I'm crazy for waiting til then. But is 27 3/4 inches tall and 14 pounds so I see no need to rush her. Her doctor said she was above average for her age and that all looked good. But I'll stop boring you now. <3, Robin ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ideas on how we can improve ONElist? http://www.onelist.com Check out the Suggestion Box feature on our new web site ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Breastfeeding is Best!! http://www.mariaann.com/breastfeeding Remember to Vote in our Weekly Breastfeeding Poll!! Guest guest
Robin, welcome to the list. My name is Shera I am a stay at home mom, I'll be 26 tomorrow. My daughter Tea (tayah) was born 8/13/98. She is 27 1/2 inches tall and 20 pounds. She just started to eat food. Don't worry about starting her on cereal. She sounds like she is doing just fine on breast milk. Tea is not even eating cereal, she eats banana, apple, and yam. Also when you do start to feed her solids you will notice that her poops smell different. There are lots of way to get little breaks. Wait until she goes to sleep and go for a 20 min walk. Whoever is watching her can try to feed her a bottle with your shirt wrapped around it. Also have the person who is giving her the bottle take of their shirt so she can get the skin. Feeding with a spoon or dropper can work well also. Glad to have you here. Wendi Intro Hello everyone. Guest guest
Stacey, Welcome to you. It is hard to get baby to take a bottle when she is used to you. Many times if Mommy is around when the bottle is being offered, baby will not take it and will hold out for the au natural way. Has someone other than you tried to give one to her with you totally gone? Some baby's are better suited to a cup feeding too. I have seen very small babies use cups with help. I do not know how to go about this as I did not use a cup, but someone may be able to make suggestions. At 5 months, I am sure she is pretty used to getting you and only you. I would also think that being in a non stimulating environment while offering a bottle would help too. I am bouncing around here, just trying to think of ideas. You have probably already tried everything you know of! I guess I can say that I do remember being there...needing a break. I did not get one as my ds nursed constantly. I thought it would never end. Even though I enjoyed nursing him, sometimes I was just touched out. It did, however, end...at least his frequent nursing ended. He now nurses only a couple of times each day. You do have to take care of yourself, but remember, it will lighten up SOON. - Jake 3-11-94 & Clay 10-22-

Guest guest
Hi Cindee, I am having surgery with Dr. Marema on Tuesday - yes.....THIS Tuesday :-). I am also interested in going to a therapist. If you wouldn't mind could I have the name of yours? Someone recommended Spellman but I am not sure her feelings on bariatric patients - I do know she has success with behavior modification in other areas. I saw Dr. head for my pre op evaluation but she is far away for me - I live in City. Congratulations on your success story! - Kim bluekat@...
