Guest guest
Hi Michele, I was interested in knowing where Aubrie had her ear surgery. I sometimes " half " follow the list. Did all go well with the procedures and is that all behind you know? from IL
Guest guest
Hi Michele, We just had 's eval ...it would seem that too has issues refocusing between chalkboard and paper. etc..the doctor believes it is an auditory processing disorder..it can not be determined at this time as needs to be a minimum of 8 before reliable testing can be performed...The doctor is writing up his report with strategies...however we as 's team are looking on our own...this refocusing also creates a problem when taking a timed test....this information is all new...the doctor feels this is a separate issue outside of 's deaf/blind issues... We'll see what will happen next Ellen
Guest guest
Michele, had a neuro-psych eval...We needed to know how learned...it was very detailed..he used 6 different tests...and all the numbers came out the same..what was interesting was ..the whole processing issue...it has nothing to do with his vision loss or his hearing loss....it is connected to auditory memory...short and quick is fine... is very smart but we were able to clear up issues such as ADD or ADHD...the team was under the impression had behavior issues...not the case..It really is about this refocusing.. looks up and then he loses his spot on the page and has to go back and look at the board again..We will now work on expanding 's auditory memory...an eye opener to say the least.. I'll let you know whatever else I can find out about this Ellen
Guest guest
Ellen- What kind of dr did you see? We see the regular opthamologist who doesn't do much regarding functional vision. The rest we figure out on our own with the vision specialist and db specialist at school. Michele W
Guest guest
Ellen- This is very interesting because we were just discussing audiotory memory as being an area we should check and perhaps work on. I don't know if it's good or not for Aubrie, but it's something I'm not sure has ever been evaluated. I have never considered a neuro-psych eval cuz we have no disruptive behavior issues really. But -- there may be issues we could learn about related to learning and there are weird behaviors I'd like to understand. Hmmm...
