The part about Corin was a quote from the person to whom I was

replying. I have two Conserve+ and I'm not having any surgery

in the foreseeable future.

With reference to a comment you made concerning plasma spray titanium

particle coatings (ie: that of the Corin Medical UK Resurfacing)

I have seen the video that you refer to and the section that deals

with plasma spray titanium concerns work done; not by Mr McMinn; but

by Von Knoch M, Ref: Incedence of late bead shedding from uncemented

porous cups. Clin Orthop 1997; 42: pgs 99-106.

Are you suggesting that this gentlemans work is out of date or

irrelavent?

Orthopeadics is based on many years of research and experience both

in laboratories, theatres and outpatient departments. The new

generation of metal/metal devices relies heavily (and rightly so) on

the old generation of McKee, Ring and many others.

I would not be so quick to dismiss or believe, search out the truth

for yourself and when researching I suggest you pay more attention to

the details, they count alot.

OK First thing first, first

Corin Medical UK: Manufacture: Cormet 2000.

History(brief): They did at one time (1994-96) manufacture and sell

the first resurfacing device that Mr McMinn (UK, Surgeon)

invented: " The McMinn Resurfacing " . Some time in 1996-97 the license

that they had to produce this resurfacing device was withdrawn,

because of problems reported by patients with their resurfacings.

This seems to have been due to a lack of tight controls in their

production methods resulting in a number of defective implants.

In 1997-98 Corin Medical produced another resurfacing: Cormet 2000

without the help of Mr McMinn. This device has nothing to do with Mr

McMinn nor does Corin Medical have anything to do with the BHR.

Midland Medical Technologies: Manufacture: (BHR) Birmingham Hip

Resurfacing.

History(brief): In 1997 MMT starting selling Mr McMinn's next

generation of Hip Resurfacing the BHR, which one would think would be

an improvement and progression of his earlier device.

Cost: It is actually cheaper to fly to England business class, have

ones surgery, spend a weeks holiday and fly back to the states

business class than stay in the states and have ones surgery.

Kiz

Welcome to SH. Have you had resurfacing, about to have it or have you

had THR??

You sound slightly aggitated ... are you in pain? If you are we all

understand and know that surgery will alleviate this. We try on this

board not to be aggressive if we can help it.

Sorry if I misinterpreted (sp?) your message

The comment about the McMinn video is mine and is 2nd hand from this

site. I was referring to the loose particles in the box, not a study.

I appologise for passing on 2nd hand info. that is not precise. Do

you have a copy of the study you're referring to? I'd like to see it.
