Guest guest
You bring back such memories! I remember bringing to Perkins for real (not just for the 2 earlier evals). My husband had to leave, but I stayed for awhile. I didn't know how rough it was to leave until I was at the airport, and an idiot decided I had to be searched (this was pre-9/11). I said that would be fine, and he replied, " it will be unless I find something. " Later, i got a glance at myself in a mirror and realized like I looked as though I'd been hit in the belly a thousand times. The first time the kid had a cold, I was ready to take the red eye. But... adjusted and so have we. My horror now is graduation. How things change! Martha

Guest guest
Oh Sheryl, what a huge day for you. But I understand about the quiet being different, too. Hugs to all of you... Yesterday was the big day. is now at Iowa School for the Deaf (ISD). We got her moved into the dorm and while I was visiting with the different people, she was already off doing her own thing. She has a 1:1 for the school day as well as 1:1 in the dorm. I think things will go just fine once they all get to know her and she gets to know them. My husband had a hard time when she started to whimper as we arrived on campus. On the way home, he said she was acting better by the time we left so he felt better about leaving her there. With the 5 weeks she spent at camps this summer, I thought I had gotten used to the quiet. For some reason the quiet today seems so different.
