Guest guest
Hello, We are on Day 7, no probs. with food... Already have had several formed stool, and some sludgy, but no diarreah. Drink is the problem. Using Tropicana and Welch's watered down. He is only drinking about 8oz. a day. Have tried bottles, sippy cups, reg.cups, with / without straws etc. Can't figure it out..he only had 2 8oz. servings of rice milk a day when GFCF, and drank any juice you gave him..not particular. Now he acts like he has always had a preference, and the SCD choices aren't cutting it! Even after playing outside in 92 degree heat, he isn't thristy! Have also tried pearsauce and applesauce w/water to no avail. Any suggestions??? Or am I being overzealous.. and the food is so good, the drink is irrelevant?? Guest guest
Have you tried just cold purified water? He may decide that is IT!!!! If he would eat popsickles, freeze some of the applesauce with water in it. Give him ice chips, smoothies... Also make jello, he may decide it is better tasting than juice (and eventually get used to the grape juice or pinapple juice taste) Drinking is very important to get rid of toxins, also to prevent constipation... If he likes bubbles, try seltzer water or club soda with fresh squeezed orange juice (or any other legal juice). Also try to give him soups (or meat of veggies dipped in broth). If he likes hamburger, make little balls of meat and boil in water with come carrots for " meatball soup " , and feed him the meatballs with a spoon, taking part of the broth... You can make a " watery " apple sauce, and pour it over pancakes... Coral SCD 8 weeks
Guest guest
8 oz a day is not enough to drink. The ideas that Coral gave are good, but if they don't work, you need to use a medicine dropper/syringe and force some liquids especially if he has been playing outside in the heat. Otherwise, he is going to dehydrate. You didn't mention how old he is, but my guess would be that he needs to drink at least 24 oz of liquid a day. Adults are supposed to drink around 64 oz of liquid a day. Our bodies need the liquid to function properly. What type of juice did he drink before SCD? Maybe we can help you come up with something similar for him that would be okay to use. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 16 months
