,

I love this one, because it totally speaks every step to me, and every month,

this company automatically sends me the supplies I need, like the strips,

lancets, and the control liquid.

they will call you in two weeks before they ship it out, so they are great!

plus, with medi care and medi cal, I don't and didn't have to pay one penny for

anything.

Good luck

My wife has asked me a few times about why I have not been billed one penny for

the meter or supplies. For years, I would get my monthly (or 90 day) supply of

Comfort Curve strips for the Advantage/Voicemate meter from the local pharmacy,

and pay 20%, and that was relatively acceptable. But, so far this year, since

using the Prodigy Voice and getting supplies through the Home Health Care

company (something like that), I haven't had to pay anything. Will they send me

a bill at the end of the year, or what?

Thanks.

Hi Dave, no,

you won't, but it all depends on your insurance.

for me, since my medi/medi pays for everything, and I have no share of cost, I

do not owe anything.

you'll have to ask your insurance, or ask your company from where your machine

came from;if you use the prodogy and your insurance covered everything totally,

than no, you should not get any kind, or form of bill.

Yes, I have Medicare, as well as a supplement of some kind. But, I think that

covers other things, but I'm not really too sure what. Diabetic supplies are

treated differently, so I don't think the regular prescription plan is involved.

but again, I just don't know for sure.

Hi ,

No , we are still waiting for the approval from Health Canada. I don't know

what's taking the reviewer so long. As for test strips, I just order a whole

bunch when I order and order when I am almost finished the second last

bottle. It can all be claimed under medical at income tax time with a

prescription from your doctor.

We've been struggling with this very thing, and have just found out about a

program - the Ontario Monitoring for Health Program - through the CDA that might

cover. They cover 75% for the talking meter and strips. After several months and

many calls, and even special application to OHIP - nothing else seemed to work,

but there is promise in this program anyway.

An income tax medical deduction is an option, but you need to have a pretty high

minimum amount to claim before it counts (3% of your income or $1900 for 2007).

That represents a pretty large number of strips, and then it is only a

deduction, most wouldn't get a lot back. If most of your prescriptions are

covered by a plan, except for the strips, you'd have to use a heckuva lot of

strips before you can start to claim it.
