Guest guest
Hi all, I just found out that I am pregnant with my second child. My first was diagnosed with PDD-NOS and he has been on dairy-free SCD since last October. I know I have yeast problems of my own (mostly belching) and when I eat the same foods as my son it gets under control. But now that I am pregnant I think I should stick to SCD for the sake of my baby. Is that safe during pregnancy? Would you make any modifications to the diet to account for pregnancy? What about dairy? Do you think it's OK for me to have dairy as allowed by SCD? I have my son off it just to be safe since we were on GFCF before. Thanks, Kathy Heilmann kathyheilmann@... Being on SCD seems to help those who have been having difficulty getting pregnant and some have gotten pregnant when not even trying to do so. I think there are a couple of pregnant SCD moms on the list, hopefully they will write in. > Would you make any modifications to the diet to account for >pregnancy? Are you taking B supplements? You may need some extra folic acid. You should check with your doctor about this. > What about dairy? Do you think it's OK for me to have dairy as allowed by SCD? I have my son off it just to be safe since we were on GFCF before. There are lots of legal dairy choices - cheese, yogurt. If you want to avoid dairy you might be able to take some kind of calcium supplement (doctor again), but it's probably better if you can get it from a whole food source (that way you get all the other good stuff like natural enzymes etc.) Sheila UC, 20 years -- in remission after 38 mos SCD mom of SCD 23 mos
