Michele, how great that the cranial sacral therapy will be continued while

Aubrie is healing from her surgery. I think that can be very, very positive.

Sounds like Aubrie did fine with the new experience. Dylan had his first

session at the house while he was asleep. Then I had to hold him for the

first couple times until he figured out that he felt better afterwards (he

was 2). Now he just goes in and climbs up on the table. I am sure it will

help with her healing. Tyler has had therapy while his forearm was in a

cast, it even helped with getting the swelling to go back down when it was

starting to feel tight. Kim L

You're right. Plus I think there's much more to it that isn't easy to

define or describe. I can't explain it, but I believe in energy work

and the benefits of it.

No :-( I haven't even attempted! However, our visits to my holistic dr

are covered because she is a chiropractor. Now, if I could find a

chiropractor or physician who did CST, I'd get some of it covered.

No- I'm in IL near the MO border. I just searched MI for you and found

1750 in the state. Did you search through the Upledger site

(http://www.iahp.com/pages/search/index.php)? Even with so many in your

state, there still may not be any nearby. We are traveling 40 min each

way and I travel 2+ hours for my holistic doc. I hope you find

someone. Even if it's not a CST, there are other kinds of energy work

that might be helpful, but I can't tell you how to find those. Perhaps

calling the CST that is closest to you and asking for help in finding a

like-minded practitioner closer?

Good luck-

I undoubtedly believe in the energy part too. Talking about blood flow is

one part that is easy for traditional and alternative medicine to

understand. Why do you think as a nurses aide I was taught to give backrubs

to each patient before bed?

Dylan had a session of Johreih when he was an infant. I always wonder if

that is what caused his ASD to close. It always seemed somewhat miraculous

to me; small ASDs close quite commonly, but Dylan's was so big that

basically there was no wall between the upper chambers, then we repeated the

echo to prepare for surgery and there was no hole, not even a hint of a

hole. Of course one will never know, but it doesn't hurt to believe in

possibility.

It certainly doesn't hurt to be open to the possibilities. I am

cautious not to do anything that has potential for harm. Even with

energy work and massage which is supposed to be harmless, I don't trust

anyone that doesn't have " good energy " in my opinion. If energy work

can have such a strong impact for the positive, then it follows (in my

logic) that it can have an impact in the negative as well. I am very

aware of the intent of any practitioner and try to trust my instincts.

The woman today was hesitant to tell me that her husband can " see " the

meridians in people that need attention. I quickly let her know that I

didn't need to understand. All I needed was to develop trust in them

and go for it. It's sort of like with all of Aubrie's professionals --

I can't possibly learn everything about every discipline. However, I do

learn enough to make judgements about the professionals and to make

informed decisions. After that, I have to trust in the professional's

knowledge which is greater than mine.

This is so fascinating to me. I wish I could take the time to learn

more. I have tried reading about all of this, but I just can't focus

enough to remember it all. The terms are so foreign that it just

doesn't stick in my head well. I read several books on CST when we

began with the gal a few months ago. It all made sense as I read it,

but I can't tell you anything about it now. I have a hard time

explaining the therapy to others.

Not yet, but I haven't fought it either. It is sad that insurance will pay

for seizure medication, migraine medication, psychiatric medication, bowel

medications, abdominal surgery to clear impactions, braces and surgery for

scoliosis etc; yet I pay for the nutritional supplements and CST that

prevents the need for most of those items. Once in advocating at the state

legislative level, I figured out that we pay over 25% of our net income to

health related care; that is really high, and I know others pay more. On

the other hand, now that I know it works for him I can't bare to have him

suffer a migraine, because we have a van payment to make. If we hadn't

started it would be easy to think " it would be nice, but... " Maybe one of

these days something will happen that will give me a solid reason to push it

through the insurance company.

We are going to HANDLE Institute in August. I am going to try to get the

cost covered by insurance, because of the addition of the seizures to his

neurological symptoms. Maybe that is how I will get it all covered.

Dylan's DO was involved in a research study of alternative health practices

with kids with CP. I will be glad to see those results. A published study

showing improved function and reduced cost would help a lot; assuming that

is what the study will find.

This is a great frustration for me too. I don't understand why our ins

doesn't cover alternative treatments that prevent the need for expensive

medical treatments. In my own case with the candida growth being

remedied by sugar-free eating and nutritional supplements, I was able to

eliminate repeated visits to the medical dr, the gyn, and the chiro. I

also eliminated many treatments they each prescribed. I had a

laporoscopy that found nothing wrong. And I didn't need a hysterectomy

which was the dr's last resort. So... the ins was paying for tons of

visits and medications each year. They'd paid for the lap and they

would have paid for the hysterectomy without any question. But they

have not helped in the treatment and supplements that have solved the

problem. Go figure.

you are right bad things can come of it too if the person doing

the work of that kind has negative wishes. I have a friend who has

been so hurt from things like this because the person doing it got

angry. most people dont believe that so she doesn't tell many

but that is just what happened.

I think with all things with our kids we have to use our instincts
