You have just reminded me that at our primary school the teachers are not allowed to reapply sun cream to the children. The gen. that comes from school says that you can get a cream that lasts all day. I have been meaning to ask them which one it is as I have never seen one that does this. My 6 year old never burns but 4 year old needs hat and cream when the sun is out, very fair skinned and strawberry blond! The school where my boys go is quite keen on uniform being worn but when I suggested that there should be a summer hat available, I was told that this would create too many problems as the children would lose them and staff time would be taken up sorting out which hat belonged to which child. A bit like the school sweatshirts, and PE kits then! My boys have legionnaires hats in their reading folders all through the summer but I'm pretty sure that's exactly where they stay - the boys are so eager to get out to the yard at playtime that if a teacher isn't telling them to put their hats on, I'm sure they just don't think of it. There is new evidence to show that suncreams go off 6 months after opening. My friends nursery had issued a big notice asking parents to bring in a brand new bottle of suncream, not last years dregs.
