Guest guest
Chantelle, I found your post interesting..........midnight snack, 2 am. My daugther has such a hard time sleeping. It has increased in time. She is 9 and we have had some long nights. She takes clonidine and melatonin and that seems to work but every now and then there is a night it just doesn't work. I feel so bad for her. A few weeks ago she had one of those nights and never slept, not even a wink. I sent her to school because she was still bouncing off of the walls and we had just finished her IEP (issues of her education, laziness and lack of interest were mentioned, imagine that!!!!) So off to school she went to fall asleep at her desk. I had called the teacher to give her heads up and so I got a call at 10:00 and we had to go pick her up!! Has your sleep always been a problem? Do you have good and bad times with it? It is really difficult when you have to function the next day. She has been known to make a mess in the kitchen at 3:00 AM, reads, gets on the computer and watches TV. We did figure out that she was on Luvox and took this before bedtime which we think was causing some of the problem. It took a different Psychiatrist to tell us to try it in the AM and add the melatonin..........great fix for now. She is now on Celexa (one week so far) Haven't found the right " recipe " for her yet and might not. The doctor has worked with 4 CHARGEr's and got a tiny response to medication in one. What are we to do though. She is going to a camp for 8 weeks, ADHD. Doesn't have that but it might help with some problems........Hope so!!! Well, sorry to ramble on but I can see her in your shoes in years down the road at 2:00 AM!!!!! Write on, I like to read your messages!!! , mom to Hannah (CHARGE'r) and
Guest guest
Oh, my. I am so distressed that the sleep issue comes up with CHARGE. takes Melatonin, but when she was home in February, we ended up having to give her 1 mg. Ativan to keep her asleep (the same thing happened last August). She'll go right to sleep for a very few hours on the Melatonin, but gets up...I'd really like to hear others' experiences.
