I am married. Congratulations on your new baby what a pretty name. I have a breast that is more productive and it doesn't seem to change. I nurse on the good breast first to give the other one a chance to fill up. Keep up the good work. I don't have to pump for work so can't help there but I am sure someone will be able to. The herb fenugreek can increase your milk supply if you are having trouble with pumping. You've come to the right place for help and support. These women are so great. Her name is Kaitlyn Rae, she weighed only 5 lbs 14 oz when she was born and she was 19 and 1/2 inches long. I am also a single mom. This is my first child and I have exclusivly breast fed her. We went to the doc today for her 2 month check up and shots, she is 9 lbs 7oz and 23 inches long. She grew 2 lbs and 2 inches in one month. I never knew how much joy a little baby could bring into my life. She is my angel bunny (as her grandma would say) and I love her more than anything in the world. I just got a job and I now have to go back to work so I can support the two of us. I am pumping breast milk all the time so I can have enough milk for her when I have to work. But the good thing is I only have to be gone for about 5 hours or so at a time. One problem I have is that one of my breasts doesn't produce as much milk as the other one. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to increase the milk supply in the one breast. Also Kaitlyn doesn't like that breast as much as the other one so it is harder to get her to nurse on it. I started work yesterday and my mom kept her for me because she didn't have to work but tomorrow Kaitlyn has to go to the sitters.. I'm really nervous. One more thing... what is the average pay for a sitter? I am very happy to be a part of this list.. I have quite a few questions and I am sure you all will be a great help. I give you alot of credit for handling this in the manor that you are.... You are doing so much for your daughter by breastfeeding her and continuing to breastfeed her while working. I was a Respiratory Therapist until I came home to the kids. Ultimately I will become a midwife. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Wendi New to the list Hi, I'm , mom to (21 Nov 92), (14 Sep 95) and (31 Dec 97). I have exclusively breastfed my youngest two children, and succumbed to the pressures to bottle feed my first child after three months. I was in the USAir Force from June 89 until Aug 92, as a medic. Worked mostly in the ER, and then post-partum once I became pregnant. I have tried like heck to complete an RN program, but the military keeps moving us, and one program's curriculum isn't sufficient for the next... so I'm a ten-year on/off student of nursing for a two-year degree! One of these days I'll get that finished! We're currently stationed on an island near Portugal, in the Azores. It's very beautiful. When we arrived, there were no breastfeeding projects here, no WIC, so I got busy and got a few started. Anyone else here an active advocate in their community? Of my kids, was born with a heart defect (VSD), combined with lots of jaundice (20.5 at highest measurement) and we did the SNS thing for a week, plus bili lights at home. had jaundice too when she was born, but not nearly as bad as , but we still did the SNS until she gained weight and got stronger... for a few days. was a champ right from the start and I had no clue. Isn't life unfair?! My husband, Duane, is super supportive of breastfeeding. He's learned so much through osmosis. This is the same man who let his mother give rice cereal at two weeks so he'd sleep through the night; the same man who bought cute pink bottles and pacifiers when was born, and the same man who only bought ONE bottle when was born -- took him a while to figure out that we weren't going to need those! Bottles make great flower vases, btw! Duane is a fire-fighter, where testosterone is the rule... yet enjoys the reactions to wearing some of my breastfeeding t-shirts... I'm also curious if anyone here own any of the INFACT Canada t-shirts?? I noticed that one of my breasts made more milk than the one that she preferd. It really wasn't a big deal though except I did get a breast infection in the breast that she wasn't nursing from much. I spent a couple of months in VA when Steffi (my 3.5yo) was 9mo. I was lucky to meet a whole load of great mums through Gymboree classes and one set up a playgroup which met at people's houses each Wednesday. I still keep (vaguely) in touch with one of them but they made life soooo much easier whilst I was there. I'm Sue (yes sorry yet another one) SAHM to (30/1/98). I'm the Ex newsletter editor for Bromsgrove now living in Gloucestershire, but attending things in Malvern Worcs., HQ have finally got this straight I think! I therefore sympathise greatly with all newsletter editors with dead computers, I am supposed to have typed our experience register, but clean forgot when windows 98 blew up totally to the point when even my IT professional DH had to reformat the hard disc and start from scratch. You will find that there isn't anything that can't be asked and that at least someone will try to answer if not many. We are all at different stages, experiencing different feelings, and trying different things; so someone will usually have already felt what you may be feeling or is sharing similar emotions. We laugh, cry and freight together, these women are a wonderful group who will hopefully be as supportive to you as they have been for me. Take care and have a good day!
