Guest guest
Hi All, My son has been having sleeping problems on a daily basis since 2 years. He is 3 1/2 year old. We tried several natural remedies. Nothing worked out. He has been on GFCF diet. We have not seen any improvement in his overall symptoms and his sleep. He is usually hyperactive. We did not do either MRI or EEG as his neuro doctor felt that they are not required. But now I feel like we have to get it done as his sleeping problem is getting worse. Did anyone in Chicago area see a good neuro doctor for their child?. Did anyone try Ketogenic or Atkins Diet with their child?. If so, can you share what you did. I really appreciate your help.ThanksKotesh

Guest guest
You should try HBOT. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a great treatment for insomnia. I've had insomnia my entire life, but now that I use a chamber on a regular basis, I get 8 hours of sound deep sleep each night. Guest guest
My grandson is having same problems. He has difficulty falling asleep and is very hyperactive. It takes him 90 minutes to two hours to calm himself enough to fall asleep. We did not try Atkins diet but did try the specific carbohydrate diet. It is very difficult and the first few days he was very fatigued and eyes were bloodshot. We did see some improvements while he was on it, but we did it over a year ago and haven't tried it since. Guest guest
A friend of mine had his son on the ketogenic diet for 2 years. His son had uncontrollable seizures on a daily basis. Oddly enough I just ran into him the other day, but I can't remember the name of his son's neurologist. He told me that his son is now seizure free and that he went through a doctor at Childrens Memorial Hospital in Chicago. His son was hospitalized for the first week of the diet because of the seizures. He believes that this diet saved his son. If I can find the name of the doctor I will post it. Guest guest
honey and maple syrup are both yeast feeders, you can use lower glycemic sweetners like agave and stevia Re: Ketogenic/Atkins Diet - Sleeping ProblemsTo: mb12 valtrex Date: Sunday, December 13, 2009, 3:03 PM The Ketogenic/Atkins diet is very similar to what many parents say works for their children.
