My son had a cochlear implant and he did not get benefit from it for a long

time. We put a second one in and they still thought it would not help. But six

months later, he started hearing with it and now is able to distinguish many

sounds. We are amazed. All the professionals are amazed. We are thrilled but

it has been a llong and painful process but now he can hear!

Deedee, that is so interesting. We are trying to get Whitney qualified for

the Cochlear implant. Her cat scan came back o.k., but they are saying that

she may have to much hearing. She has profound in her left and severe in her

right ear. She has a hearing aid for her right ear, but we don't see that she

can hear with it. She has never startled with her hearing aid. She will be

having her third abr soon to see if her hearing has gotten worse. The ENT at

the house ear institute said that if she has any aidable hearing, she won't

qualify. That makes no sense to me. She will have to go through life hearing

mumbling, when she could have a surgery to restore hearing. Any advise? What

was Bryce's hear level tested at?
