Do any of you go to La Leche League meetings and if you do, are you in SC? The reason I ask is that I have been getting conflicting information on the rights of b/f mothers in this state>> For correct information regarding laws in your state just call your state legistative office in your capitol. They can look up any laws passed in the last year or that are up for agenda. If they can't find it they will refer you to the law library, they can take your info and call you back. I believe that they indicated that it was a violation of your rights to attempt to keep you from nursing in public. For more info on the national breastfeeding legislation, check out www.house.gov/maloney/breast.htm or call Congresswoman Maloney at . To find out who your local representative is and if they support the bill call . You can then write to your Congressperson c/o US House of Representitives, Washington DC 20515. What really bothers me is, If I go to teh city hall, and b/f they can ask me to leave. However, if I go right across the street to the federal court house or to the US Customs House, they can't!!!! I am trying to get in touch with an assemblywoman I know to see if she is going to be any help. I was dismayed that they gave our state as having specific protection for nursing in public when we really don't. There is one little clause in the public indency law that kind of exempts nursing mothers. I'm thinking about getting a statute specifically for nursing mothers as we did in Nevada. In New Jersey I am exempt because I am a SAHM who has to take care of nonschool age children. They don't even care about the nursing. What state were you talking about? Is it a law that stay at home moms are exempt or the jury people just make exceptions?
