,

WOW!!! You have done your homework. I'm impressed. I have breastfed,

forever, and didn't know this info. Thank you. Now I can impress my dh

with this knowledge. Hope you don't mind if I act superior to him. *G*

Sorry, but what's hyperemesis?

My let down always lasts between 30 seconds to a minute

It has gone down since has nursed less and less. If I am engorged (as

this morning) it did hurt for a while. But as soon as the milk is in... it

stops... and I sigh... not that it happens too much to me anymore....

goodluck!

Kristi.... hey, I also had hyperemesis. By the time I was 8 weeks preg I

had lost 30 pounds, was in ketosis and they thought my kidneys were shutting

down. I was hospitalized 4 times and went home with a picc line on zofran 3

x's a day and 3000 ml of fluid 2 x's a day (for 8 weeks!). I remained

nauseous the whole preg but the vomiting stopped. I know what you mean. We

intend on waiting till is 5 years old for the next one. I can't take

the risk of getting so sick with a little one at home. Even though I do

want another little one soon!

When did yours start? I think I had this with my last pregnancy, although

it was not specifically diagnosed. I started throwing up at 26 weeks and

was at the hospital once a week for an IV, and at 30 weeks was in the

hospital for 4 days on turbutaline and mag-sulfate to stop contractions!!

They never really said what was causing it, but this was what I suspected.

Then maybe that is not was what I had. I had almost no morning sickness

early in the pregnancy. Mine started at 26 weeks!! I was quite shocked!! I

lost 5 lbs. I hope your next one is better!!

I had no idea this could happen that badly. I hope and pray for any of you

that had this it doesn't happen again.

Gosh, what a whine I was. If I felt alittle nauseated, I whined. I did

enjoy the attention from dh.

: I dont' know about , but with me, it gave me hot flashes,

weakened me so much I coudn't stand up without assistance the first day

and for the following three days I couldn't even get out of bed. I was

very sick, which isn't good considering I was always dehydrated, and my

me very irratable. My doctor was very happy not be on call for the rest

of my hosp. I cursed her up and down. LOL

<<Really, really, REALLY bad morning sickness ... more like " all day " vomiting

to the point where some moms need to be hospitalized due to dehydration.>>

I had home health care during my pregnancy with Nick because of hyperemisis.

I had a heparin lock and at night I would hook myself up to an iv bag while I

slept. It kept me out of the hospital and i did it for about 6 weeks. too

many iv sites to even remember!

<<Preterm

labor was at 34 weeks. 1 week of magsulfate.>>

I personally think magnessium sulfate is the worst drug known to women kind!!!

i had it twice during my pregnancy with the twins and 3 with hospitlizations

w/Nick. After the first time I knew what to expect and when the nurse would

say " Okay, Dr. B says we have to give you a bolus of mag and start the drip "

I would fall into tears. It is truly the worst.

<< It still could have been hyperemesis. I jsut never got rid of the

morning sickness. Some women don't get morning sickness until their

second trimester. So, you prolly did have it.

Hugs

Kristi>>

It is considered hyperemisis when medical intervention is needed. Either

because mom is severly dehydrated or because of IUGR. Alot of moms suffer

thru naseau but can still manage to continue consumption of calories and

nutrients. It's the moms that can't keep water down or loose weight and can't

keep calories down that need the help from meds or iv fluids.

~~~~feeling like high risk pregnancy queen...had it all!!!
What does it do that it's so bad? I mean, I know it stops comtractions, and I
heard it makes you kind of jittery. I'm curious because I almost had it with
Kylie around 30 weeks.
They have to cath you which sucks first of all. Then they give you the bolus,
a large amount before the slow drip, and you feel this awful heat overcome
your body and it feels like being posessed. Your legs feel like jiggly jello,
it's difficult to move because mag affects all the smooth muscles in your
body, not just your uterus. They have you doing breathing exercises to make
sure your lungs stay clear. It's just awful.
:
Mag Sulfate can be used to stop contractions but it doesnt' always work.
If they gave you pit to induce, Mag won't do diddly to stop
contractions. It may slow them down but won't stop them. My Doctor
explained to me when I went on it that it might not stop my
contractions, in which case she was prepared to deliver my baby. Thank
goodness it worked.
