That rumor is not true. We're continuing to print and mail

certifications twice a week. We've mailed out over 1200

certifications/licenses (may include a few duplicate IDs) since March

1st and expect to have five or six more mail outs this month.

March is a busy month for the National Registry because it's their

common expiration date, but I haven't noticed a slower than ususal

turnaround in their EMT-basic score submissions to us. So, I'm not

sure of the origin of this rumor.

Our staffing is re-approaching the pre-September 2003 numbers (the

state retirement incentive took a few folks) and we don't anticipate

any significant delays in routine turnaround in the near future

(knock wood).

As it stands, we're getting to post and re-fill the certification

processing staff positions we lost in August. The bureau's overall

staffing, statewide, is another story, and as you probably know, the

final effects of the agency's reorganization are yet unknown.
