Guest guest
Tina, Are you consuming enough calories? If you are not sure, please use fitday.com to figure it out. What about cashews and other nuts that you did not list, are you okay with those? Eggs? Just trying to get some ideas together... Guest guest
I have found juicing veggies has increased my energy - a big glass of carrot juice first thing in the AM is way better than a cup of coffee. Other than that, I'm sure folks will have ideas. I wish you did not have to be so limited there, that's hard. in NC Mom of Luke, age 5, Asperger's/low-salicylate; , age 3; and , 21 mos All SCD since 1/26/04 Energy Can anyone tell me what would give me some more energy on this diet? We don't do dairy, and I am nursing right now. I cannot eat tomatos, citrus fruit, pecans or almonds, walnuts, peanuts, eggs, beef, bananas, avocados, coconuts. I am SO limited! Thanks for any helpful hints. Guest guest
Several of those foods we do not use as well. Try some mango, pear, papaya, pomegranate, cashew butter and flour (it has a really good taste, and if you can use it add some honey to it) carrot, green bean, cauliflower, peas. Make some meatloaf by mixing some meats together..........ground turkey, ground pork, ground veal, ground chicken, and put veggie in the meatloaf. Make some smoothies out of the above fruits. Jell-O, fruit purees, maybe some Stir Fry meals out of the meats and veggies you can use. There are a ton of recipes on pecanbread and links to other sites as well. If you use apples make some baked fruit with apples and pears, honey and cinnamon. Just a few ideas. Check out the websites, I think a good one is www.scdiet.org Good luck to you. Guest guest
Hi Tina, Not really a suggestion of what to eat but how to eat. Nursing burns up a lot of calories so you'll need to keep your intake up to equal your output. Having snacks between meals will help with this. It should help prevent dips in your energy and give you a more even " flow " throughout the day. Snacks don't have to be traditional snack food but can be mini meals between regualr eating times. I take the easy way out on lunchtime meals by making a lot for suppertime and reheating for lunch the next day. Lunch is always a fun affair with lots of variety. On days that there isn't enough leftovers I'll raid the freezer for soup that I have made in batches or the cupboards for some tuna/salmon salad or sardines. Are you drinking diluted juices or eating any fruit? Pearsauce or applesauce are usually pretty good choices for those at the beginning. Are cashew okay if so there are lots of great ideas on the website for this in recipes. Cashew yogurt, muffins etc. Also what about macadamia nuts? I don't recall if you've mentioned in the past but are you allergic to these items or is your nursing child allergic to them? Is it an allergy or sensitivity? Are you using a probiotic? Many find that they have a large improvement in gut healing once they start them.
