Irma, are you giving the Diflucan 3x a day?????You only need to give it once a day.

Cheryl~http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com~@midian42~

, thanks again for your response. May I ask why you don't split the Difflucan 3 times per day as well? and how long do you wait to add your probiotics, any enzymes and vitamins after the Valtrex?By the way, I saw a picture you had posted of your son and his angelic face brought a smile on my face when I was going through one of my sad spells. He's really precious and very handsome, what a bright young man he's going to be.

I saw another post stating you had attached a video of your son but I couldn't open it unfortunately :( I tried looking for any videos on utube and saw a another handsome boy named but I wasn't sure if it was your little one. Did you get a chance to upload any videos on utube yet and if so how did you lable the clips so we can see them? I'm thinking of doing the same but I didn't get any footage of him in his spinning days, gosh he use to spin a block like a top with so much flare, doesn't care for it anymore. I want to thank you again for helping all of us,Irma Sahdala

My son is a very tall and thin 5 1/2 yrs. old.

He started Valtrex when was 5 yrs. old, and he was 38 lbs. He is now 5 1/2 yrs., and is 40 lbs.

We worked up to 500mg 3x a day (and that is where we stay now -- again, he is 40 lbs.)

Diflucan: We give 90mg-100mg of Diflucan, once daily -- in the morning, w/ his first dose of Valtrex.

Five hours later he gets his second dose of Valtrex, 5 hours after that he gets his 3rd dose of Valtrex.

Valtrex has a short half life, so it needs to be dosed often (3x a day..)

Not everyone experiences a rash (however, we did..)

Dear Cheryl, Tracey,Anyone help,My soon to be 3 yr old/35 lbs son has been on Valtrex for 3 weeks now and I haven't seen any rashes or unsual skin marks in his little body. I have seen a little more language, tiny bit more of eye contact and awareness and even more affection towards us especially with his Father. I'm now only giving him two 500mg's of Valtrex (at breakfast & lunch time) mixed with 50mg of Difflucan...is this not enough, to much...or should I worry about not seeing any rashes. One thing I have notice is alot of tongue stimming (not sure what to call it) salvatation and sticking out his tongue to the right direction or curling it in the front...all sorts of bazaar tongue actions...not sure if this is good or bad....pls. help someone, I hope I didn't start my son to young on Valtrex.

Thank you,

Irma

My son have been on antivirals since he was 3. He turns 7 on Saturday.

2x is day is, in my opinion (I'm not a doctor!), too low. Should be 3x a day.

Thanks again Cheryl:May I ask how long was your son on Valtrex? I'm pretty much giving my 2.10mth old/35 lbs son 2 doses of 500mg's per day.....is this to much or too little would you say? He seems to be ok thus far, with the exception of the new tongue action...is the new tongue movement (curls to the side) some kind of side of affect or could it be a new mouth exploration or stimming?

With all the HBOT, Gluthadione, Enhansa, Probiotics and all his vitamins....he still hasn't stopped "voice stimming" and his eye contact isn't quite there yet....are there any other meds or vitamins that can help with this?

Yes we do need to stick together somehow and utilize all of our resources and technology. We're so fortunate to be able to communicate via e-mail this way. To think what the parents from past generations had to go through...with hardly no support. I can't stop thanking everyone for sharing and being a part of this forum:)

Thank you,

Irma

.....a ma-ra-thon...WOW, that's SUPER!!!! That's going to be so wonderful for you, best wishes! Oh and thanks again for the info., as you can tell it's still a learning curve for me and I'm sure all of us on this board. By the way, have you tried the SCD diet to?

To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Fri, October 8, 2010 8:16:32 AMSubject: Re: Cheryl/Tracey help...2nd WEEK on Valtrex..no rash..

Oh, Irma. You are the sweetest. Thank you for your kinds words.

Valtrex is dosed three times a day b/c of it's half life. Diflucan only needs to be dosed 1x a day (it stays in the body longer).

Yes, I give all morning meds/supps at the same time, w/ the exception of Probiotics -- I give those at bedtime. Enzymes: Before every meal & snack.

No, I have not loaded any videos onto You Tube, yet. I just finished a half marathon and am now training for a full marathon (which is a part time job ;) The race is in November. So, as soon as I finish the race, my next project will be loading videos onto You Tube of our son, and perhaps, a blog -- we'll see.

:)

, thanks again for your response.

HTH,

We tried several diets but diet never did anything for us so after a couple years of nothing (good or bad) we stopped putting money there and went with what *was* working. I do always suggest that everyone try diet, whether it's GFCF, SCD, Feingold, etc. Some kids respond greatly, some respond a little and some don't at all but you never know until you put in a good effort.

Stan is one man with one kid. You can't compare his child to yours, mine or

anyone else's. How long it takes for the immune system to heal is different for

every kid.

> ...doesn't Valtrex affect any organs in the long run I wonder?

No, not generally.

>

It's not about how long you're on it. Length of time isn't the issue as far as

taking it. The issue with antifungals is that they can raise liver

enzymes...period. You'll usually know within a couple months if this is going

to happen which is why they need to be monitored every 4-6 weeks.

The reason you hear so much about time and raised liver enzymes is because it's

about how long you *have* raised liver enzymes. If you aren't monitoring liver

enzymes and they raise, you'll damage the liver by not keeping an eye out on it

and catching it early and knowing to halt the antifungal.

My son has been on antifungals since he was 3 and never once had raised liver

enzymes. Other kids have terrible liver enzyme issues with it. Sometimes just

changing the antifungal is fine. Other kids can't take any of the systemic Rx

antifungals. It just depends and monitoring the liver is very important.

Length of time isn't the issue as far as taking it. The issue with antifungals is that they can raise liver enzymes...period. You'll usually know

within a couple months if this is going to happen which is why they need to be monitored every 4-6 weeks. The reason you hear so much about time and raised liver enzymes is because it's about how long you *have* raised liver enzymes. If you aren't monitoring liver enzymes and they raise, you'll damage the liver by not keeping an eye out on it and catching it early and knowing to halt the antifungal. My son has been on antifungals since he was 3 and never once had raised liver enzymes. Other kids have terrible liver enzyme issues with it. Sometimes just changing the antifungal is fine. Other kids can't take any of the systemic Rx antifungals. It just depends and monitoring the liver is very important.Cheryl> > ; > To: <mb12 valtrex >; > Subject: Re: Cheryl/Tracey help...2nd WEEK on Valtrex..no rash.. > Sent: Fri, Oct 8, 2010 3:47:26 PM > > > We tried several diets but diet never did anything for us so after a couple years of nothing (good or bad) we stopped putting money there and went with what *was* working. Hi, the rash is expected and should

happen.. The toxins of the heavy metals are being released onto the body.. It

has to come out somehow.. Try to make your child comfortable.. You can try

putting Boudreaux;’s Butte

Paste on it, or Tea Tree Oil. If this doesn’t help, try aloe vera cream. Be

happy, your child may be on the road to recovery.. I hope these suggestions

help your child.. Good luck and take care..
