and Elle,

I think there may be a difference in the states because many doctors are

afraid of malpractice and law suits. I know in this area it is rare to hear

the heartbeat in the first trimester, even though the equipment is capable

of it. When we asked to hear the heartbeat we were told that they do not do

that in the first trimester due to insurance regulations. They show you the

range of the heartbeat on a line graph.

They also would not do a video of the baby because they said there have been

many cases in-state where a tech did not pick up a cleft pallet and the

institution was later sued by an attorney who studied the tape looking for

the cleft pallet. Unfortunately, I think medicine is becoming too much of a

business. Elle has received amazing health care! I'm constantly impressed

when I hear about her appointments!
