Hey Marty!

Good to hear from you! Hope all is going well and you are not working too

hard these days. I'm so glad your creatinine is staying down for you.

Take care of yourself and do pop in from time to time to let us know how you

are doing!

Marty,

Of course you are remembered! You do have a new email address though I see.

Is work still keeping you so busy?

For those of you who are newer members, Marty allowed us to go with him

through his second round of dialysis and his second transplant and has been a

member for a very long time.

Please keep in touch with us Marty.

Marty Marty Marty,

Forget you NEVER!!! Like you I have been absent on and off, but I know

everyone remembers, that's what makes this group so special, you can

more or less pick up where you left off. I am battling (and now

winning) chronic depression Marty hence my absence, but I am reading

every day now, and familiarizing myself with the new folks, and the new

humour (Dave yes I do mean you LOL!!!).

Glad to hear your doing ok Marty, like says, do drop in now and

then and let us know how your doing.

Best wishes

Actually, I tried PD for 6 months, then had to switch to Hemo. I've

only had one transplant (living donor, my cousin). She has no idea

what an angel she has been, though not for my lack of trying to

convince her.

I had an unfortunate occurance Monday morning on the way to work.

The vanpool in which I was riding was involved in a high-speed head-

on collision in the carpool lane of a freeway. The other vehicle was

driving the wrong way. Since it ocurred at about 4 a.m., I can't

help but think that alcohol may have been involved. Thankfully, no

one on the van was seriously injured. I received serious contusions

in my chest area. It is excruciating to move my arms in most

directions. Very fortunately, my transplant seems to have handled it

well. At the hospital, the doctor ordered some blood and urine work.

My serum creatinine was 1.8 mg/dl which is pretty much normal. Also,

my urine had no protein or blood in it. I'm very pleased with that.

Take care,

Marty

PS thanks Pierre and . I hope you both are better soon.

Hi Marty,

How scary to be involved in a head on collision. I am just so thankful that your

cousin's kidney handled it so well.

It is good news that your creatinine is holding steady Marty.

Take care and I hope your injuries feel better soon!

Posted

Marty,

How are you doing today? It would be dreadful to lose the kidney now or

your life after all that you've been through. I am very glad that no-one

was seriously injured though.

During a pre-Christmas shopping spree, a girlfriend and I was out shopping

till midnight at the mall looking for bargains. When I exited the highway

and made the curve, a car was coming head on down the ramp going the wrong

direction. I didn't see him right away, because of the curve. He hit the

ditch, I missed him, the car behind me missed me, the truck behind him

missed him. No one was hit or injured. It's the kind of thing that you

read about but never think that it would happen to you...

Hope that you're feeling better! Keep in touch.

Connie :)

You are so lucky to have survived such an accident. Drunk drivers are like

firing a loaded gun into a crowd.

My husband is a police officer. When he works nights, the biggest threat to

his safety is from drunk drivers.

I take it you had your seat belt on.

Posted

Marty,

That is perfectly awful! I am so glad that you are OK. Thank God, you were

in the van. It sounds like a miracle that folks walked from this one. As

much as I hate to say it, whenever I hear stories like yours, my resolve

about not getting something bigger than my old volvo wagon starts to weaken.

I'm very, very glad that you (and your kidney!) weren't hurt.

Thanks Cy,

Would you believe that the other party (drunk driver) was in a mid-

sized car. He hit two additional cars after our collision. He was

airlifted to a local hospital and treated for " a broken nose. "

Thanks Connie,

I haven't really improved much. My chest contusion pain and lower

back pain don't seem to have subsided much at all. I am being

followed by the doc though.

Thanks again,
