Guest guest
How could I forget, also started OLE, but only in the past couple weeks. this behavior started before OLE. Oh, and had an OAT test, there was some yeast and we now have that under control, no change (except he lost the yeasty giggles). > > My son has regressed socially in the last couple months. In fact, social interaction has always been the least of our issues, and OCD/tics/aggression etc. has always been the problem. Seems like we have all that managed finally and he has now regressed BIG time in public. When we go places (target, dentist, toy store, or have a babysitter over) he starts scripting, echolalia, just shouting out random stuff at strangers. Guest guest
Are you testing for the strep antibodies, etc with respect to PANDAS? I think you mentioned this in another post?Do you think it could be a negative response to 5-htp? That works on the serotonin levels and I would think it was suspect. Serotonin levels out of whack = bizarre behaviors, at least here! --- ToniTo: mb12 valtrex Sent: Thu, September 30, 2010 1:03:36 PMSubject: Social Regression - freaked out! Guest guest
Yes both of my boys are pandas kids, that is why i started the OLE in the last few weeks (their guts burned out on the antibiotics). It seems to me like pandas is under control, that is why I am so nervous over this different type of regression. I don't think I have ever seen him act so odd with strangers. He usually saves the odd behavior for home, now it's the opposite. As soon as we get in public, he starts scripting, echolalia, etc. I am wondering if it is b/c he is trying to maintain his composure at school all day (longest he has ever been in school - 6 hours) and he is " letting it all out " when we run errands after school, etc. By the way, I am going to stop 5HTP today to see if that is doing it. > > Are you testing for the strep antibodies, etc with respect to PANDAS? Guest guest
Have you considered IVIG? Also, just to let you know...my sons ASO titers came down from over 300 to 95 in 2 yrs time of doing IV chelation (over 100 IV's) phoscholtidycholine push, DMPS, EDTA, GLutathoine (huge dose) , NAC, VIT C . Not sure what helped with the PANDAS.......Glutathione is a great antioxidant as well as the VIT C and NAC. Guest guest
Ya know my 4 yr old NT dd is the same- fine in school but as soon as she gets in the car she howls like a wolf, acts all silly, sings the same song over and over- does it in restaurants, etc... it may be because he is starting kindergarten. Its an outlet and an attention getter- could be lots of reasons HTH > > > > He difinetly sonds like a PANDAS kid! Guest guest
You can try a different antibiotic. Is he allergic to penicillin? You could try an immunologist or rheumatologist who specializes in PANDAS and work with them. They may be able to do IVIG. Pandas is easier to treat if caught early. You do not have to actually get strep throat to get PANDAS .........exposure to someone with strep can cause a PANDAS flare up. You can try OLive leaf extract or LDM 100 to try to kill the strep. Things to try to modulate the immune system require scripts low dose naltrexone or Imunovir. Also transfer factors will help the immune system. Chisolm Labs makes Immun factor 6 which specifically targets strep but is expensive. I would find a knowledgeable PANDAS doc and work with him. Guest guest
So, to clarify - is everyone thinking that the social regression has to do with strep? I don't feel like he has pandas right now, there are no other signs of it (besides some very mild OCD). I have never seen pandas present with social regression in my son. I mean to the point where he can't even interact with his best friend of 5 years!! I'm wondering if it has to do with starting kindergarten, either the stress or the BRAND NEW BUILDING that they just completed days before openning this school (could the off-gas cause an immediate regression like that?). Anything else it could be? (OAT did not show much...) > > > > Hi .
Guest guest
My son had that exact same problem! Wow! Well, I had to put him Straterra due to severe ADHD and then we just recently started back on antivirals which has helped get his social and overall happy demeanor back. We are on Valtex, 500 mg per day.Rhonda Masengale ----we are experiencing the exact same thing and can not figure it out--it is as if we lost a year or so--If you want to e-mail off line-- bill.luce@...
