Guest guest
Well Rich, The US says that 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce. Probably true for EMS marriages. WHY?? Let's see, first your wife can't see you sleeping platonically with another woman 2-3 times a week, then you stop sleeping platonically with that woman 2-3 times a week. Sound familiar? I don't know that there's any hard data on it, but this would be my guess. Cristi
Guest guest
It is going to vary according to geographical location, company call volume, length of marriage, etc and whether both spouses are in the medical field. Vast unpaid research department Ok - time to access the vast unpaid research department of Texas EMS. I have googled every variation that I can come up with. I am attempting to locate info on regards to the EMS divorce rate, and may be why. Also I have found several references to these studies the have us killing ourselves off at much higher rates than the general public. Thanks in advance
Guest guest
I disagree, while this is a very stressful profession and appears to be hard on marriages, I believe a lot of it has to do with what kind of marriage you have to start off with! How dedicated and committed to your spouse are you? Do you hold true to vows you took? Granted there is plenty of temptation and opportunity in this world we call EMS, but it is also there everywhere! For 13 years I have worked at least every 3rd day, sometimes more often, while my marriage has had it's ups and downs, 10 years later, we are still together and still committed to each other. We are not a minority, plenty others are doing the same. I don't really see where what the spouse does for a living makes it either way. There are just as many with spouses that are in the medical field that split as stay together and vice versa. One truth I will give to you that my wife continues to preach. If it can happend.... it will..... while I'm on duty!!!! Vast unpaid research department > > > Ok - time to access the vast unpaid research department of Texas EMS. Guest guest
, The reason I say it matters if the spouse is in the medical field is because I have seen very, very jealous wives/girlfriends who cannot deal with opposite sex partners. Also because my wife is in the medical field she understands the long hours/days. many other non-medical spouses cannot. And it can go both ways. Time apart can hurt or help marriages. I think in mine it helps. And you are right about the type of marriage you start off with. Vast unpaid research department > > > Ok - time to access the vast unpaid research department of Texas EMS.
