Guest guest
, I believe you and Elaine have discussed this before but she sent this along in hopes it will help: Here is a copy of an email sent to another Mom: <<<Judy, I assume that this child is being fed via nasogastric tube feeding as contrasted with tube running into the intestinal tract through an incision. If it is nasogastric, it is important (I guess in both cases) to have the diet the right consistency so it doesn't plug up the tube. Since the Mother is concerned with casein, that is a difficult question because with SCD, casein, a perfect protein, is so perfect for this kind of feeding (see infant formulation). The chicken soup with just enough pureed carrots (through a strainer) might be a good way to start. Right now, for at least 3-4 days, I would not worry about vitamins or minerals because the primary goal is get the gut in better shape. If the chicken soup (plenty of protein and some fat) with the small amount of strained carrots (carbohydrate) works for about two days, then the Mom can begin to get the vitamins and minerals in solution, in small amounts, into her. Priority #1 - to get calories (nourishment) into her which will not feed the bacteria Priority #2 - to use small amounts of minerals and vitamins along with the nourishment. Priority #3 -to increase the calories to prevent further weight loss by adding some oil. All must proceed slowly. Guest guest
I haven't found one yet... Wow - Is she tolerating the corn in Neocate? Here is what I know: Neocate PLUS - it does not have the corn protein in it but does have starch Vivonex - corn starch and soybean oil EO28 - Sucrose and artifical flavors These are the most hypo-allergenic elemental formulas that I am aware of, yet they aren't SCD.
