Guest guest
Okay, so when I check out the Feingold site, I am told there are lots of phenols, I am even told most edible things have phenols. I am also told that I have to be a member to access more information ($$$- I spend enough on this already!). So, is the list there an adequate list to start with? Are there ANY fruits left? Will only be eating vegetables and squash with his burgers? And for how long? When is it safe to re-introduce these foods? And, lastly, do you ever give your kids sweets? I mean, no honey, and honey is the ONLY thing on the SCD (I don't like to use things like saccharin on his already unhealthy gut -if it didn't grow out of the ground or crawl on it a few days ago he doesn't eat it). I am getting really grumpy about this because I was thinking maybe we could do this too! We've been GF/CF for so long, then SF and egg free. Got used to that. But good grief, its like there's nothing left! But of course I have to try it because the alternative just isn't worth it:( Helen, mom to , ASD, SCD since Easter

A few months ago we put eggs into his pancakes (GF/CF/SF only) and had increased irritability, arguments, frustrations, etc for the next couple days. He didn't know about eggs (didn't want to break his heart if they didn't take). I know I should do a blind study (not tell my husband, tutors, etc) but I am weary about adding them again. > Jody > mom to -5 and -7 > SCD 15 months
Guest guest
I have not joined Feingold, I just do my own research, though I've come close to " joining " several times for the info, anyway - do what you want on that one. Many folks have success with no-fenol, an enzyme. Here is a list of salicylates that typically rings true for Luke, though there are individual differences of course: http://users.bigpond.net.au/allergydietitian/fi/salicylates-list.html You may not even want to think about this right now and that would be fine. Just focus on getting SCD legal because that is what will HEAL your child!!!!!! This salicylate issue, for those of us who have to worry about, is just about keeping them calm and happy and focused, in the meantime. It's SUCH a huge deal for Luke that I don't feel right NOT bringing it up to parents who sound like they may be dealing with that, even though I know it will overwhelm and maybe even confuse you. in NC Mom of Luke, age 5, Asperger's/low-salicylate; , age 3; and , 21 mos All SCD since 1/26/
