Guest guest
You're so right about the nutrition thing, Rogene. In some ways it all seems so simple what will cure this...nutrition, movement, emotional freedom...yet allopathic doctors aren't trained in this and in truth, don't make much money from telling us to eat better, move better and think better. No, $3,000 is nothing when it comes to health. One other thing the Emotional Freedom Therapist said is that he tells ALL of his patients to be selfish and hedonistic w/ themselves (without hurting others of course). He said those 2 words have negative connotations but that in truth if each of us focused on ourselves more and indulged in pleasure rather than running ourselves ragged, pathogens wouldn't gain a foothold on us. Thanks for always posting the Mercola articles. If you hadn't I probably would have never heard about him. - PH > > PH, > > When it comes to one's health . . . $3000 really is a drop in the bucket if the therapies are effective . . . Guest guest
Hi Patty, We didn't go into much detail about that because they want me to focus on nutrition and movement for now. When I go back in 2 weeks to discuss results, if my adrenals are suffering, they will give me DHEA and/or pregnelone. They also work with some herbs but he didn't go into detail. I'll definitely let everyone know...not that they should take exactly what I'm taking because it is very individualized...that's what's so great about this program. - PH > > > > > > PH . .. Guest guest
Hi All, Just wanted to fill you in on Mercola's protocol. Today I received my blood results…Lynn, Patty and Dede…all of you were right about getting my thyroid antibodies tested. I came back positive for thyroid antibodies and was diagnosed w/ hypothyroidism even w/ a normal TSH...darn!!! At least I know for sure though. They said they could prescribe Armour or Synthroid if I'm feeling so bad I can hardly function, but they'd prefer I wait it out and address adrenal issues/diet/detox first, if I can. I was torn because I have been in agony, yet, I want to do it the most beneficial way (according to them). They said they've seen the autoimmune issues go away entirely through diet, adrenal support and detox alone. Everything else was normal except for malabsorption and anemia which they attribute to whatever's wreaking havoc on my gut. One thing they said is that they have never ever seen a case where the issue is only candida. In fact they said that if someone has candida, there's usually a larger underlying problem such as heavy metals, parasites or bacterial infection. I'll know more when they get back the results from six stool samples…glad that's over with!! They also reiterated for the third time very strongly that anyone with adrenal issues stay away from gluten. They said it's nearly impossible to correct the adrenals if you're eating gluten, regardless if you're gluten sensitive or not. For anyone who has muscle twitching, pain, or restless legs, that's a clear indication of magnesium deficiency...which Rogene, Lynda and Dede have emphasized before. They said when the body is stressed the very first thing that becomes deficient is magnesium. After that I had EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) where he tapped on my meridians while I said things like " Even though my vision is blurry, I love and accept myself, Even though I have hypothyroidism, bloating, mercury toxicity, etc…. " He did this for all my symptoms. It didn't cure me but it is so effective in calming me and giving me strength. Every time I've had it done I come away calm and feeling in control. I highly highly recommend it for all. Next session he wants me to come in with the top ten events that have bothered me in my life and he'll tap for those. They said repressed emotions cause blockages in the body that eventually make the body susceptible to illness. While they also believe implants are toxic they said if you remove the emotional blockages, your body detoxes easier. He did one session on an event that's bothered me for years and it's amazing…I feel totally neutral toward it after only 60 seconds. Even hours later…nothing, yet for years it bugged me. I swear this stuff works!! Some chiro's offer EFT. In all it was a good trip but next one will give me more insight to what pathogens are having a hay day in my gut. That's when I'll really feel like I have some direction in all this! Sorry this was so long but wanted to give you all the scoop. Love, PH > > > > PH ~ > > It sounds like you hit gold ! Guest guest
PH, This is fantastic info and so helpful to the group! I know it is for me. Especially the focus on adrenal issues and avoiding gluten. WOW! Now there's something we can stress more to everyone! We've talked about gluten issues in the past, but I remember how my feelings were about it....I thought since I wasn't having any immediate issues with gluten containing foods, it wasn't a problem for me. WRONG!!! It turned out to be a problem after all, with positive gluten sensitivity tests! But no digestive issues! I know there are plenty of women on this group still eating gluten containing foods because they don't think gluten is an issue. Girls, think again! Let's tackle this thing together and all get better! I'm convinced that many of us end up with thyroid issues....glad you got the antibodies checked out. You may feel better with some thyroid support, but hopefully you will be successful in getting this autoimmune condition to go away. I've not been tested in ages--I need to, in order to see where I'm at. I'll be following your progress closely! Did they mention anything about using caprylic acid for healing the gut? How are they proposing to tackle any parasite, heavy metal or bacterial issues? I know you don't have your results yet, but wondered if they touched on the subject of treatment at all. The EFT technique sounds amazing. Thanks so much PH, you're offering very valuable contributions! I wish I had been able to go to Mercola's clinic! My parents don't live far from there. I saw your pics on MySpace--you've got tons of them up there! What a lovely person you are, and your family looks beautiful and happy! I'm so glad we've all been able to connect! Guest guest
Hi Patty, I hope others are getting some good info from my appointments because sometimes when I post I wonder if others are thinking " Who does she think she is going on and on and on about her appointments...It's not all about her! " I think we can all learn from this place though because they fully acknowledge the dangers of implants and have some experience treating. Yes, gluten sensitivity is more prevalent than we realize. A year ago when I was first told I had it, I started reading a lot and much of the info out there says it manifests itself differently in everyone. It leads to digestive issues for all but the symptoms play out in various ways, some very atypical http://autoimmunedisease.suite101.com/article.cfm/atypical_celiac_dise ase_symptoms When I was on a celiac board, some people were complaining of vision loss, dizziness, coma-like symptoms just from ingesting a crumb of gluten! My mom has hypothyroidism and my dad has colitis. I've read that both can be from gluten sensitivity. Yet, because my mom, like you, doesn't have any digestive issues, she doesn't want to give up her bread! I know it's hard but I wonder how much better her hypo would be if she just gave it up. One of the first things Dr. Mercola's office asked me was what my heriatge was. They said if you have an Irish, ish, English or Scandinavian background your odds are much higher that you have it, but that they feel no one can really tolerate it....that just because you don't have overt symptoms doesn't mean that it's not harming you. They said the only supplements they want me takng for now are probiotics and Carlson's cod liver oil and magnesium. The rest they want to to get through diet unless my stool/urine samples indicate otherwise. They start out really slow, making sure the patients adhere to the diet changes...sort of frustrating for me because I've been strict w/ my diet for a year! Once the parasites, etc are identified, they treat it with herbs, supplements, prescription antifungals, or detox depending on the level and the pathogen. They said only as a last resort do they use antibiotics. With the heavy metals, they treat it with a chelating agent but I don't know which kind. They also use chlorella. They keep advising not to treat the metals until the gut is healed and the adrenals stronger. For adrenals they will give a DHEA, pregnenelone combo w/ something else. Yeah, I'm so glad we're all connecting through Myspace. It's fun getting to see the personal side of everyone. I hope more members will join! Guest guest
PH- My doctor has checked my thyroid 5 times now and it always comes back normal. She even checked my thyroid antibodies in August....all normal. She said we could check my adrenals next if my fatigue doesn't get better. I guess that has to go through the endocrinology dept. which is why we didn't do the test today. This is good that he found something! Means that you can treat it and get better! Interesting about the Candida being not the only thing causing problems. I wonder if the detox helps with any other things that might be going on besides the Candida? Girl, I've had to do the stool samples before (a few times!) not fun, huh? Glad to hear he was able to help you with some of the emotional stuff too. That can definitely wreak havoc on our bodies! Guest guest
PH, You're right, at least you know what's going on for sure. I had my appt yesterday with my naturopath and I have to have blood work done for candida antibodies, vitamin D, and he also wants to do a food panel. My follow up with him is next month. I had my second foot bath today and feel great! I'm also happy because my test results for Epstein Barr and Lupus came back negative. Guest guest
Seriously, doctors are not given much nutrition training. . . . Makes me wonder how serious they are about healing . . . or are they just agents of the drug companies. It looks like, with the crisis going on in health care costs, that nutrition would be at the top of the list! . . . And that the feds would be penalizing companies promoting junk foods. . . They are killing more people than tobacco!Hugs,Rogene

Guest guest
The stool samples...I thought I was going to vomit!! Plus I also had to do a smear...I'm just glad I'm not the person opening the tubes and looking at it all under microscopes...at least that's what I tell myself every time I'm digging into my own poop! What did your results come back as? A year ago they just told me I had bacterial overgrowth and zero beneficial bacteria. As far as adrenals, I didn't have much luck with my endo. In fact, most endos don't recognize adrenal problems until they are full-blown 's or Cushings Disease. I had both blood and urine tests for cortisol but they came back normal. If you do a saliva panel (4 tests during the day), you get a more accurate pic of what's going on. Every time I've had the saliva test, my cortisol levels are extremely high indicating I need support of some kind. Most women on this forum have done testing through www.canaryclub.com My naturopaths are the ones who did mine. Some chiros do them too. Yes, detoxing works for the other issues besides candida, but I think it is helpful to identify whether it's metals or parasites. Often it can be both from what I'm learning on other forums. Also, Mercola seems to suggest a certain sequencing for all this...like no detoxing til you know where your adrenals stand. Love, PH > > > > > > > > PH ~ > > > > It sounds like you hit gold ! Guest guest
Hi Stephie, That's wonderful it came back negative! So glad you're feeling better. Sounds like your naturopath knows what he's doing. That makes all the difference in the world. I floundered for quite some time...each doc gave me a small piece of beneficial info but I don't think they seemed to know how to put it all together. Yours sounds thorough! Guest guest
PH- I feel for ya on the stool samples! I thought I was going to gag while I was digging through it doing the smear! I thought about the folks that have to open it up too. Can you imagine? All of my tests always came back normal when doing the stool samples. In fact, I don't think I've ever had a test come back abnormal. Interesting about the adrenals. Perhaps I will do the canary test this weekend. I don't want to be doing detox if there is a problem with my adrenals. I wish we could ALL go see Dr. Mercola! Love, Krista > > > > > > > > > > PH ~ > > > > > It sounds like you hit gold ! Guest guest
Thanks, Rogene. I can't tell you how much I've learned from you. I don't think I've met any women that know more about nutrition than the women on this forum! And the emotional support you give...it just can't compare and I know part of that is that we truly know what the other is going through at times. You and the others have been so helpful to me, especially in the beginning when I was a complete basket case, encouraging me to stress less and be patient. I still have my moments (had one an hour ago!) but my plan is in place and I have this forum as my safe haven. So thank you, my friend! Guest guest
Oh you're so very welcome PH . . . Watching women take control of their health and getting better makes it all worth while! I just pray that the day comes when women won't be treated so shabbily when they seek treatment for implant, and other autoimmune, issues.Love,Rogene
Guest guest
Hi PH Just want you to know that I really appreciate your posting the info you get. I do read them all. I've had so much going on lately that I haven't had a chance to respond as much as I would like to. I appreciated the link to the article here... it lead to about an hour of further reading. I gave up all gluten about a month ago. I do feel better. It hasn't completely solved my digestive problems but I know it has made a difference. I also dropped 11 pounds in about 5 weeks...so that is good for me. So glad you are able to get all these answers and are sharing it with us. Thanks, > > > > > > > > > > PH ~ > > > > > It sounds like you hit gold ! How wonderful ! > > > > > This is what you have needed. I am so happy > > > > > you had such a great experience there. Guest guest
PH, My TSH was "normal" too. But I had the antibodies, which is Hashimotos. Even though I don't have hypothyroid yet, I opted for the synthroid and I feel SOOOO much better. I do think this helped my fatigue the most, plus my hair loss. It takes a while for the synthroid (or even the armour) to build up in the body - so I didn't have relief for a few months which was frustrating. Patty has mentioned that it is not good to take armour when you have adrenal issues - the RX pamphlet mentions this but I do not think this is the same with synthroid. I would have preferred to take armour because it is natural but it didn't agree with me at all... I am sure it was because of my adrenal issues. The synthroid has never given me issues. Lynn Re: Dr. Mercola - Optimal Wellness Center Hi All,Just wanted to fill you in on Mercola's protocol. Today I received my blood results…Lynn, Patty and Dede…all of you were right about getting my thyroid antibodies tested. I came back positive for thyroid antibodies and was diagnosed w/ hypothyroidism even w/ a normal TSH...darn!! ! At least I know for sure though. They said they could prescribe Armour or Synthroid if I'm feeling so bad I can hardly function, but they'd prefer I wait it out and address adrenal issues/diet/ detox first, if I can. I'll know more when they get back the results from six stool samples…glad that's over with!!They also reiterated for the third time very strongly that anyone with adrenal issues stay away from gluten. They said it's nearly impossible to correct the adrenals if you're eating gluten, regardless if you're gluten sensitive or not.For anyone who has muscle twitching, pain, or restless legs, that's a clear indication of magnesium deficiency.. .which Rogene, Lynda and Dede have emphasized before. They said when the body is stressed the very first thing that becomes deficient is magnesium. After that I had EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) where he tapped on my meridians while I said things like "Even though my vision is blurry, I love and accept myself, Even though I have hypothyroidism, bloating, mercury toxicity, etc…." He did this for all my symptoms. Some chiro's offer EFT.In all it was a good trip but next one will give me more insight to what pathogens are having a hay day in my gut. That's when I'll really feel like I have some direction in all this! Sorry this was so long but wanted to give you all the scoop. Love, PH > >> > PH ~> > It sounds like you hit gold ! Guest guest
Krista & PH, I found out today from reading (starting with the link you sent PH), that what many labs label as normal TSH levels are actually not normal. In 2003 the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists changed the " normal " levels from 0.5-5.0 to 0.3-3.04. This makes a big difference! My doctor had concerns about my thyroid in June. I was tested and the lab said my levels were " normal " . My TSH level was 4.87. My rheumatologist looked at my records yesterday because he said he wanted my thyroid checked... then said, " I was checked in June and it was normal " . Don't these guys do any homework? Not to mention that the lab is still calling that normal? Krista... what were your TSH numbers? You may be in the same boat as I am. > > > > > > > > PH ~ > > > > It sounds like you hit gold !
