die-off or not

Hi,

We have been giving our son the yogurt for almost two weeks now. We

started out with too much the first day (1/2 tsp.), but now we have

reduced his intake to less than 1/4 tsp. At times, we have skipped a

day or two. I continue to see the good with the bad, and therefore I

think he is experiencing die-off. He is tantruming again, the way he

did prior to SCD, and this scares me. He is also quite stimmy and

obsessive. I know this has been asked a hundred times, but how long

should yogurt die-off last?

Just when I want to throw in the towel, or should I say throw out

the yogurt, he will say or do something amazing. Today, he said " I'm

sorry " (in such a sweet, sincere way) to one of his therapists after

having a major melt down. The only time he ever says " I'm sorry " is

when we prompt him after he takes something from his younger

brother. He has never said it spontaneously.

I'm sorry if every message I post sounds the same, but I'm just so

confused!!! My instinct has told me to continue, but I am starting

to doubt myself.

Hi Louisa,

Pardon me if I'm repeating myself, but ...

STILL has tantrums. They had mostly subsided (except for the

odd age-appropriate hissy fit) until we started Tomatis Listening

Therapy, and they are back with a vengeance.

The psychologist there explained to me that it is quite common with

their therapy. He says as becomes more and more aware of

herself as a person, she has a greater need to express her

preferences. Like the terrible twos. Only much later.

We did go through the same thing when we first started SCD, and it

took months for them to subside. Then I thought they were gone ...

but in any case, the food hasn't changed, so for , it must be

the therapy.

About the yogurt. I started and stopped many times because I was

seeing bad behaviours, but each time I saw more and more language,

so the last time I decided to tough it out.

Only you can decide (sorry, it sucks, but it's true) whether the

yogurt is helping or hindering Spencer. In any case, keep going

slowly. I went too fast and probably caused my little girl needless

suffering.

Hope this helps!

I'd continue, sounds like good improvement - what are you putting in the yogurt

to flavor it? Just curious, wonder if that is causing the tantruming/etc rather

than the yogurt.
