Hi Sharon, I lost weight with the way I eat, however, it may or may not work for others. Some people can follow the food plan that is given to them by their nutritionist. The plan given to me did not work. If I had stayed on it, I would not have lost weight and probably would still be on meds. I have seen that plan work for others, though. When I first started losing weight, I did write down what I ate every meal, every snack. I would weigh once a week. If I did not lose weight one week, I would cut back a little bit on food or exercise more. It was easier for me to lose weight once I stopped writing every thing down and stopped thinking about what I should eat or should not eat. I knew that if I ate smaller amounts of food, that if I did get hungry before the next meal, I could eat. I still do this. Most people can lose weight. It's just a matter of finding the right combination of food/exercise. It's not easy at first, but once you get in the habit, it becomes easier and the weight will melt away slowly. lol hugs Eunice
Guest guest
Boy you eat way more carbs than I do and I cant loose wt. Are you loosing wt ? I am the original asker of the posting of meals and it was to Eunice who has lost a lot of wt so that those of us who cant loose wt can see what she eats and what we might be doing wrong. sharon definitely not starving A friend from another group was concerned after I posted a partial listing of what I ate during the day, so I wrote this down for her. She felt I was on a starvation diet, as I'd only posted as far as lunch; she had no idea how I eat the rest of the day. Since others are interested in what members have during the day, I thought I'd share, too. Here's what I've had today: BREAKFAST; 4 strips microwaved bacon oatmeal, using 1/3 cup oats and 3/4 cup ff milk 6 oz. tomato juice (no, I don't eat the grapefruit anymore; it jacks up my bg) LUNCH: spaghetti and meatballs (2/3 cup pasta, 1/2 cup sauce, 6 meatballs -- frozen premade ones) tossed salad with mozarella, black olives, radish, and ff French dressing 2 slices white bread with margarine 6 oz. pineapple juice SNACK: Blue Bunny blueberry yogurt (has Splenda in it) DINNER: grilled pork steak (on the Foreman grill) 2/3 cup pasta 2 c. steamed broccoli with margarine (sometimes I'll have a salad, too) 8 oz. ff milk dessert was a cup of raisin bran (LOVE the stuff; could eat a box in one sitting) Later, I'll have another snack, most likely another container of yogurt and another cup of raisin bran -- around 9 pm. Then, before I go to bed I'll probably have a grilled hamburger (on the ) with a bun and just a sprinkle of salt and pepper, and maybe another glass of ff milk. Or I'll have some poached chicken and a couple of plain rice cakes and the milk. Fried chicken works better, though; homemade of course -- I need a little bit of fat in my food. I normally only eat 3 strips of the bacon, but I knew I'd be pretty busy today and my a.m bg today was 85; I wanted to cover it. Two hours after breakfast it was 84; and before dinner it was 95. I eat according to what my reading is. So, you can see that I'm not starving. I make sure I have some carbohydrates (starch!!)at each meal, and especially before I exercise. Sometimes right after I exercise, too. If I feel " iffy " I'll grab some fruit juice, another cup of dry, unsweetened cereal - something carbohydrate. One of my favorite snacks, when I'm reading in bed, is a cheese and breadstick Handi-Snack; 100 calories, only 12 carbohydrates for those who count them. Since I have my numbers down -- A1C down to 6.1 -- my DE says not to count carbs anymore; she would like me to concentrate on calories so I can get some more weight off. It's pretty much stayed the same the past 3 months, climbing just a few pounds, but she sees it as a trend; I do, too. I don't want to gain back any of the 40 pounds I lost! She's pretty happy with my progress; so am I. I love to eat, and love the way food tastes, so there's little risk of me starving! And my " regimen " changes. It's not the same as when I was first diagnosed; it changes as I see how certain things affect me/my bg. I still measure, and have eaten low fat for a long time; too much gives me heartburn -- a little now and again is good, though. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing that Eunice. I am sitting here thinking of tweaking my plan. My new nutritionist did not put me on a plan that was cut and dry and I really think I have to totally tweak my dinner because my fasting is 180 for the last few days. I may just really cut carbs at dinner to 15 ... One thing I do not want is more meds. They are KILLING my stomach..its awful. I said this before but for me it's looking at my hands which are tiny and feet which are size 6 and small petite bones. My small body can only handle a little amount of food. I can't eat like a San Francisco 49er :-) or else I will look like one! sus -----Original Message----- From: ERWachter@... .. Guest guest
to loose weight you need to reduce the ammt of calories that you are taking in. Have to put out more energy than you are eating. simple. I agree with you about meds. I'll eat less, I'll exercise more, whatever it takes to stay off meds. I'd much rather spend that money on something I enjoy. hugs Eunice
