Guest guest
" Then about an hour later it was green diahrrea with brown specks and mucous. Is this a sign of intolerance or die off? " Sounds like some vigourous spring cleaning :-) So yes, a kind of die off. It does not seem like intolerance. " SHould I skip the yogurt tomorrow? " You could always see what happens. " Also I used 1/2 scoop of the starter for 1 quart, should I have used 1/4? Could this be affecting him? " CP is really powerful. By adding more freeze dried probiotics, you end up with a mega-powerful yoghurt, especially after dripping. After dripping you literally concentrate it. This is one of the reasons that we encourage to start with minimal quantities. You indicated that you see no behavioral changes. This is a good sign. Last thing: until you are sure that your son has gotten used to the yoghurt, keep quantities low. Guest guest
I would keep giving the yogurt, but slow with breaks, as others suggest. I think this is die-off, as this yogurt is powerful stuff and wonderfully healing for our kids. Don't give up just yet! I think the yogurt is a big part of this whole equation. in NC Mom of Luke, age 5, Asperger's/low-salicylate; , age 3, healthy; and , 19 mos, healthy All SCD since 1/26/04 goat yogurt reaction Hi List, Can anyone shed some insight into what's going on. My son (SCD 6 1/4 mos) has had 1/2 tsp of yogurt for the past 3 days. I noticed in the late afternoons, he get red hot cheeks but then that passes. Today, he had a normal looking stool and then about an hour later had some green diahrrea with mucous in it (sorry!). I gave him charcoal and tonight, I saw some nice language improvements. Now I'm wondering if he's having trouble tolerating the yogurt or this is just die off. We haven't seen any big behavior regression. Is this normal for starting the yogurt? Also, should I skip a few days now? Guest guest
Hi , Green diarhhea does sound like die-off. Please see http://www.pecanbread.com/badreaction.html regarding stool color changes ie. bile salts etc. How about cutting back to 1/4 of a teaspoon and skipping a day in between. It's great that you aren't seeing any major regression and you already have the language improvements. Please keep us updated. Sheila > Can anyone shed some insight into what's going on.
