Guest guest
, Thank you so much for updating. This is so inspiring! What a difference for your son in such a short time!!!! Blessings to you and may the Lord continue to work mightily in your sons life! Blessings, Doreen asd 12, scd day 32 Update on diet w/Tourette's and OCD--long The changes in have been amazing. Less than two weeks into the diet, he asked to go to Walmart--the store he hated more than any. In the past he did everything he could to avoid going into that store. He walked into the store and the entire time he was walking with the other children, not needing to be " in the middle " . He was not nervous. He can now go into a store without holding my hand and looking down at the floor or closing his eyes. His ocd stuff with his siblings has diminished greatly. The next week I watched some children for a friend. These are children Josh has known all his life. Suddenly I realized that Josh was playing with them. I had never thought about it before, but has never, ever in his life played with any children outside our family. Usually when other children are around, he just stays next to his older brother and talks to him, or if they are playing legos, he just gets some for himself and does not interact, or he goes off by himself or hangs around with me. That day he was actually running around, playing tag, laughing, giving one boy a boost to get on the rope swing--I was in tears! This is after less than 3 weeks on this diet. We had alredy noticed that in our family that he was more social, more interactive. Prior to this having a conversation with him was difficult. He was not " conversational " . Now he is. His tics have lessened as well. He is not back to what one would call " normal " , but he has come much farther in the past weeks than he did in the last year with the supplements. This has been a major blessing for our family, and worth the difficulty of eating this way. Guest guest
" My 8 yo son does not have autism, but he has Tourette's syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD). We tried this diet based on the recommendation of someone else who has children with the same disorders. I wanted to share our story in case any of you know someone in a similar situation. " What amazing progress! I have been waiting for your post, I was very curious about what SCD might do with Tourette's. What a relief it must be for your son, for all of you. And ONLY after 3 weeks, unbelievable!! " ....and worth the difficulty of eating this way. " In a couple of months it will be a way of life. Do you give yoghurt? Thanks for writing about your son. Truly wonderful. Marjan Netherlands mom to Nick, 7, scd since jan 18 2003

Once we switched flours and took all the salycilate foods away, he really has improved with no tics which is such a great feeling to actually not see him tic and not being able to do anything else. We see a naturalist in Cherry Hill, NJ, Dr. Magaziner, which also gave us many supplements and he now is being retested to see where his vit. & min levels are. The ocd has also almost gone away, and we can tell if he has taken a food with the salycilates in, because his tics come back and the ocd come back. I have been looking for other people with tourettes on this diet to see if the salycilates were a problem with them. It is nice to read your story, good luck.
